Congrats to Samuel, Ben, Alex and the @pipeopshq team!
It took us @dfsventures some time to find a cybersecurity team we felt had truly grasped the fundamental shift that has occurred in the last 18 months.
Even during our discussions with the team, we saw the OAI-HuggingFace incident rattle the industry alongside the proliferation of 0day attacks. Cyber vulnerability is at an all-time high and clients require proactive, AI-native solutions.
Like much in the Global South, this shift puts pressure on critical infra buildout. There will be no renewed industrialization without digital safety. And that digital safety simply cannot be imported.
We believe @pipeopshq is a team that's evolved into one who's commitment to protecting Africa's digital domain had pushed them to the frontier of what's needed on the continent and beyond.
We are thrilled to see our portfolio company @terraindustries leaning into the same mission alongside longtime co-investors.
We back founders chasing previously unimaginable ambition who are willing to face the hard questions head-on. Excited for this team.

Building resilient infrastructure means investing in our own builders. Proud to join @terraindustries through @R17_Ventures to invest in the Aeon team as they scale sovereign cyber defense across the continent.
With cyberattacks costing Africa over $3 billion, scaling a combined digital and physical security platform across the Global South is a necessity. Africa supporting Africa is how we secure the next frontier of growth.

The investment follows a successful pilot earlier this year. @TechProd_Arch, Flutterwave CEO, also joined the round through his fund, @R17_Ventures.
The two companies have now formed a commercial joint venture to deploy Aeon's technology for Terra's government and corporate clients across the Global South.

We’re excited to announce Alex Idowu (@nitrocode) as a speaker at SysConf 2026!
His talk is titled “How to Safely Give AI Agents a Terminal.”
AI coding agents that execute commands as part of their workflows have become quite common today; however, most of them are still set up with unfettered shell access to a computer (laptop, bastion, shared runner etc.).
This talk examines how to address this risk by reframing it as an isolation and lifecycle technical problem. Alex will draw lessons from his experience building Rexec, an open-source platform that provides disposable network-isolated Linux terminals in the cloud or lets you connect your own machines.

ALT Alex Idowu is the CTO of PipeOps. “How to Safely Give AI Agents a Terminal” is the title of his talk at SysConf 2026.

ALT Alex is the CTO of PipeOps, a SaaS platform that helps you monitor, manage, and deploy your application to your native cloud provider. With over 10 years of experience in the tech industry, Alex has worked on projects and led teams across multiple industries like cloud and finance. Beyond work, Alex engages in R&D and champions open-source knowledge sharing for collective progress.

Four years ago today, we pitched Chowdeck at YC Demo Day.
It’s crazy how quickly time flies and even crazier how much can change in four years.
For one, my hair is longer 😂 😂😂
But more importantly, @chowdeck has grown far beyond what any of us could have imagined back then.
In the video, I was so proud of delivering 800 orders in a day. Today, we do that every 15 minutes.
And yet, it’s still Day One 🚀

As much as folks clamor online, models don't make you a better engineer. A faster one, yes..., but for a short time.

A Pewbeam customer in the US reached out last Friday morning wanting to cancel their yearly plan.
It was sad to read their email, but the beautiful thing was that they carefully explained why: we lacked some features they needed for their setup. I didn’t let my CS team handle this; I reached out and promised that three of their feature requests (that we agree with) would be shipped this weekend.
We stayed awake until 3 a.m. this morning to ship those three features, and this customer is happy with their plan again and has changed their mind about canceling.
We do customer support differently. Even though it is difficult, we ensure we attend to our customers’ specific needs because they have an audience to serve and we have a responsibility to help them do it.
These, among many, are some of the lessons I am learning about building a startup.
