A huge thank you to our SysConf 2026 team! Making an event successful is a difficult feat, but doing it to the level of excellence of this year's conference shows this team's commitment. There were many roles, from event logistics to moderating to peer reviewing and more! And many people took on several roles! SysConf 2026 was an incredible team effort. Thank you for your time, dedication and care that brought this vision to life! #SysConf #SysConf26

For the second day in a row, #SysConf26 trended and it feels surreal to see myself as one of the top trending posts. I actually can’t believe it! Thank youuu to everyone who registered, showed up, listened to my talk, talked about it online, and asked questions. Omg, there were so many questions, I had to visit the speaker booth to answer them all! 😂

A good day to quote this thread. Thank you to the team for pushing the vision forward 🥹. @sysconf_ #SysConf #SysConf26
I try to articulate one vision for @sysconf_ in a short essay. It’s important to consider why we even bother and what we hope to achieve. If we can learn from you, please apply. If you know someone we can learn from, ask them to apply. Link in thread.

We’re excited to announce Frederick Bondzie-Arthur (@0xebaf) as a speaker at SysConf 2026! His talk is titled “The Hard Part of Feature Stores: Time-Consistency and Parity in Production.” At @thefidocredit, credit decisions are made using an ML system across multiple African markets. Ideally, the system’s model is trained on borrowers’ historical data and a serving path uses the model to make decisions. This is a talk about how the system deviated from this expectation and how it was resolved. What were the [intertwined] deviations? Firstly, the system only computed features based on current data, without retaining what those features looked like at past decision points. Secondly, the logic to compute features diverged for training and serving. Thirdly, when a backfill was attempted to recompute historical features, it inadvertently incorporated future data. How were these issues resolved? Come listen to Frederick’s talk at #SysConf26 to find out! #SysConf #SysConf26

My talk is in 4 hours. Come with any questions you have, about building specialized databases for your domain.
We’re excited to announce Anthony Alaribe (@tonialaribe), co-founder of @monoscope_tech, as a speaker at SysConf 2026! His talk is titled “Timefusion: Retrospective on running a custom timeseries database in production.” Anthony’s talk at #SysConf25 focused on the motivation for building Timefusion, a time series database built in Rust. This year, his talk examines the reality of powering an observability platform using Timefusion over the last year, including painful incidents, what has gone well and the techniques the @monoscope_tech team has implemented to stay fast at scale.

These turned out to be a lot more fun than we could have imagined. Thank you everyone who joined the conversations; we looking forward to having more of the same! #SysConf #SysConf26
Tomorrow, we're hosting the first-ever unconference segment at SysConf. Think of it as a roundtable discussion between engineers about a certain area. We want our attendees to come voice their opinions, questions, learnings, uncertainties, and assertions. We want to learn from one another and discover fellow travellers in areas we are interested in. Our tracks are: 1. AI, Agents & The Future of Software 2. Building Reliable Software Systems 3. What's Happening with Hardware? Read through the tracks and reason about which one you'd be interested in. You don't have to be an expert to join a track. We also encourage experts to join their respective tracks. The goal is to have an open discussion. The unconference segment will happen on Fri, Oct 2nd, 2026, at 10:15 am WAT. P.S. You might have to miss work a bit, but it'll be worth it! A tip is to attend the session like a regular meeting 😁. #SysConf #SysConf26

My @sysconf_ talk is in 9 hours!! 🥳 🥳
We’re excited to announce Adora Nwodo (@AdoraNwodo) as a speaker at SysConf 2026! Her talk is titled “Authorizing the Agent Loop.” Many incidents triggered by AI agents happened, at least in part, because the agents had more access than they should have. But these aren’t unexpected, since default setups give agents the exact same access as the users they act for. We can do better. This talk, drawing on experiences from projects Adora has managed, presents an approach to authorizing agents properly using ReBAC: giving agents their own identity, enforcing intersection checks between agent and user permissions, choosing between pre- and post-filtering in retrieval, and ensuring consistency where it’s important. #SysConf #SysConf26

See you in a few hours!
We’re excited to announce Audrey Ezeonyedika (@ogonna_ezeh) as a speaker at SysConf 2026! Her talk is titled “Trading at Scale: Building a Resilient Trading Engine Under Extreme Load.” Drawing on her experience building and running the @HisaApp trading platform, Audrey walks us through the architectural decisions and the mistakes behind scaling it to tens of thousands of orders a day with sub-millisecond response times. From this talk, you'll walk away with practical patterns for building low-latency, high-throughput systems and a mental model for failure modes that only become visible at scale. #SysConf #SysConf26
