“Fall soil samples collected after harvest (up to 6 weeks after the R8 growth stage) can be useful to monitor changes in [root-knot nematode] population densities or to make management decisions for the subsequent cropping season. Soil samples should be collected at an 8 to 10-inch (20 to 25-cm) soil depth within the root zone of the previously existing crop.”

Fact or fiction? Automatic R3 fungicide applications pay in soybeans.
Fiction says @ArkansasEPP #SoyResearch. On-farm large-plot trials show they’re less likely to pay without disease but protect yield and profit with disease. @arkansassoybean #SoyCheckoff bit.ly/4xcUWeZ

“Red crown rot has been reported to reduce soybean yield by 25-70 percent in the U.S. Impacts on a field-scale may be minor at first when patches are small, but as patches get larger over time, red crown rot’s impact on field-scale yield averages can become greater.”

Through his work in @AginArk's Soybean Breeding Program, Caio Vieira is working to develop soybean varieties that can better tolerate the stresses Arkansas producers routinely face, including flooding, drought and root-knot nematodes. A rare disease for MS soybean growers. Red crown rot has been documented in a limited number of counties in east MS (n=7). The plants in the pictures were all from Noxubee County, a county with historical instances of red crown rot @MSSOY

More Taproot decline on soybean in AL. Symptoms of the fungal disease are obvious during pod fill but can be seen on plants at earlier growth stages. Stunted yellowed plants break off at taproot when pulled from soil with a blacken taproot @CropNetwork @baldpathologist #Soybean

Established a fungicide trial on soybeans with @SpurlockLab this morning in Lollie Bottoms. Used a drone looking at two different fungicides at two different application speeds. @AginArk @AR_Extension @arksoydoc

Working on a fungicide trial today and @SpurlockLab noticed taproot decline in a field across the road. This could be the first case documented in the River Valley. @arksoydoc @AginArk @AR_Extension
Replying to @SpurlockLab @DavisSprayGuy
We appreciate Eddy Simmons with Vantage MidSouth and Tidwell Flying Service for providing the aerial applications. Funding for this work and associated objectives has been provided by Cotton Inc.
Finished up the week working with @DavisSprayGuy and Trapper Padgett on a fungicide trial in cotton to determine if there are differences in spray coverage and efficacy between plane, drone, or ground rig.
