Finished up the week working with @DavisSprayGuy and Trapper Padgett on a fungicide trial in cotton to determine if there are differences in spray coverage and efficacy between plane, drone, or ground rig.

Yesterday, I rated the late-planted official hybrid trial at Marianna. Not much southern rust but big differences in Curvularia leaf spot. Some hybrids just covered. I'm not aware of data that suggests this disease has caused yield loss in our area. It can be impressive...

Collected data today in our fungicide strip trial at Jefferson Co. Outrageous frogeye leaf spot in the nontreated. We get tremendous data from these on-farm trials.

Southern stem canker inoculations at Rohwer this week. We plant a copy of the official soybean variety trial and inoculate with toothpicks infested with the pathogen to determine if varieties are resistant to the disease. Funding provided by the AR Soybean Promotion Board.

Perfect day to spray a fungicide trial in Chicot County. We will do 10-12 of these on-farm trials across the state this year. Project funded by the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board.

Busy week planting cotton and soybean trials at Rohwer Research Station. The station staff did a great job dodging the wind and getting fields sprayed behind us. Also breaking in a new infurrow / 2x2 system designed by @DavisSprayGuy (that's why I'm standing on the planter).

Rated a fungicide trial on wheat this afternoon in Carlisle with Lonoke County Ag agent Trapper Padgett. Drone compared to ground application. There was a fair amount of leaf rust in this trial.

Taproot decline on March planted soybeans in Woodruff Co. Seems early for these symptoms but we've had lots of rain to support the development of soilborne disease in central Arkansas.
