It is absolutely not true, @BBCr4today Gtr Mcr has sufficient suitable, available & achievable brownfield to meet gov targets but have still released over 2,000 ha GBelt! This is about profiteering from our green spaces, not about housing NEED! @SGMGB2017
It is NOT true that we have no choice but to build on the green belt

I said same at a meeting tonight at #Braintree District Council. Biodiversity Net Gain plans as things stand will not stop the decline of #nature. To do that we need to stop destroying habitats in situ and stop pretending they can be "provided somewhere else".

Godley Green urban extension; sole justification for loss of greenbelt is an unsubstantiated housing requirement; a measly 15% to be βaffordableβ; Homes England funding for private housebuilders; a design code and masterplan that predicts car dependency. Shameful!

Given there is sufficient suitable, available & achievable brownfield land across Greater Manchester to more than meet the Government's housing target, this decision is about GREED, not need!
So which is it @RishiSunak @michaelgove ? You either want to give residents power or not? #greenbelt is either precious or its not? To call out @Keir_Starmer for wanting to build on our greenbelt and youβre doing just that!! 4000 objections just ignored @BBCPolitics @TelePolitics

Depressing how housing (roof over your head a basic need) is always reduced to Build more! Build on green belt! Build anywhere! It's like the Brexit bus all over again. Where's the proper, evidence-based debate: HOW DO WE MEET NEED, NOT DEMAND & SAVE THE PLANET?

We criticise the GMCA's dramtic u-turn on 32 proposed sites, totalling 521.5 hectares, which will no longer be designated as Green Belt, a nationally significant planning designation which protects the openness of land permanently. A poor planning day. @SGMGB @GMSpatialFrame

Thank you @ChrisClarksonMP for objecting to 'unjustified' Green Belt release. The annual UK 300k homes per year target, and Greater Manchester's don't add up. The Census 2021 and brownfield land should be used to plan. Look after our nature and farm land. @SGMGB2017 @BBCNWT
