"The State of Biodiversity Action Report shows a gap between ambition & action. The evidence points us to where we need to go, if we want to overcome the crises of climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution & to end the war on nature" - @antonioguterres buff.ly/4mnqtpH

Successive governments have pretended to support "localism", "devolution" & "local democracy", while progressively strangling the life out of them. Councils' ability to plan is one of the biggest targets of #TreasuryBrain hatred of elected opposition. tinyurl.com/56fudsnw

Again @mhclg @andyburnham where is the water 💦 supply coming from for the hundreds of AI data centres and 1.5m extra homes? How can the chalk aquifers recharge when they’re covered in concrete? Where are the new reservoirs? Where is the common sense? It’s time your brains engage, get a handle on what’s getting built, and how you can deliver water for a fast growing population!!
It’s quite simple..no rain means no water 💦 supply…how does this government intend to supply water to 1.5m extra homes and god knows how many AI data centres? Especially in the highly populated and already severely water stressed south east and east of England? @AngelaRayner @KanishkaNarayan share.google/JfIZ8FQa7Rs8yWY…

The Budget is a chance to make aviation pay its fair share. Flying is the most carbon-intensive form of travel, yet aviation fuel remains tax-free. We're calling for a kerosene tax, a frequent flyer levy & higher APD on private jets to fund better local transport & cut emissions.

Councils warned BY THE GOVERNMENT to become hostile to pedestrianisation of high streets. And so the Government retreats ever further from sustainable transport policies. @mhclg #Petrolheads

The project to designate at least part of the Wolds as a national landscape (at least 50 years overdue) is still slowly grinding its way through Whitehall's bureaucracy. Amazing how "new towns" or sprawly "development corporations" can be designated in a few months.

Today's reminder for all promoters of the #DenialistScam. "Your children will remember."

Today is #WorldFoodDay. To protect UK #FoodSecurity, it's vital that the Government imposes an urgent moratorium on building on productive farmland. It's urgent. Destroying the planning system to encourage greenfield development isn't.
Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow. This #WorldFoodDay, let's foster innovation that nourishes people today while protecting the resources future generations depend on. Learn more 🔗 fao.org/world-food-day/en/ #AgInnovation

📢📣Over 15K signatures ..we have until the end of October to show this government we’re not happy..millions of us will have to deal with unsustainable development. The grey belt was introduced as a measure to enable building on poor quality green belt such as old car parks, abandoned petrol stations and scrub but the planning rules are framed in such a way that high quality green belt is being lost to development…in Hertfordshire over 83% of applications cite grey belt. petition.parliament.uk/petit…

Floating bus stops make disabled people cross a cycle lane just to catch a bus. There is a safer way: The Bike Aware Bus Stop. Passengers stay on the pavement. Cyclists keep a level, steady lane. Read the report: boldlytogo.blogspot.com/2026… #FloatingBusStops #Accessibility

Lack of Autumn rains so far means the drought situation continues to deteriorate. Parts of southern England now in severe drought (the highest category). Make no mistake, a dry autumn and winter would mean big problems next year. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwm2…

When we're in a climate emergency, when #FoodSecurity, #WaterSecurity and #nature are under serious threat, when flooding and sea-defence are becoming real dangers, our opponent is neoliberal influencing operations.
