We're excited to welcome Steve Bennett as the new Chief Executive of Public Health Collaboration, officially joining us on 6th November.
Steve has been a long-standing supporter of PHC, serving as both a patron and benefactor.
As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we're looking forward to beginning an exciting new chapter together, building on our mission to help prevent more people from developing chronic diseases through better metabolic health.
Steve has exciting new plans for the charity, which we'll be sharing over the coming weeks. The first is our name: Public Health Collaboration will become Preventive Health Collaboration.
Our message and focus will centre around a clear commitment:
“Most diseases of modern life are preventable; many can be reversed. We build the evidence, teach it widely and campaign for policies that put prevention first.”
We'll still be PHC! Our new name reflects our commitment to preventing and reversing chronic disease through better metabolic health, helping more people access the knowledge and practical support they need to make lasting changes.
As we begin this new chapter, you'll gradually see our new identity reflected across our website, social media channels and other communications over the coming months.
Please join us in welcoming Steve to his new role!

What can we learn about food addiction from someone who brings both research and lived experience of recovery?
Dr Ellen Bennett, PhD RD, is a Registered Dietitian, researcher and founder of Liberate. She helps individuals and clinicians understand ultra-processed food addiction through an evidence-based, compassionate approach.
Ellen has just completed her PhD at Coventry University, researching addiction-informed interventions for ultra-processed food addiction. She also brings 18 years of recovery and has maintained an 11-stone (70 kg) weight loss for 16 years, combining scientific expertise with personal understanding of recovery.

Congratulations to Dr Ellen Bennett (@EllenBennettRD), PhD, RD, Registered Dietitian and Founder of Liberate, who has been awarded her PhD for her research into ultra-processed food addiction.
This is a huge achievement and well-deserved recognition of years of hard work, dedication and commitment to improving our understanding of this complex area.
Ellen brings both lived experience of food addiction and years of research to her work. This combination has helped shape Liberate’s evidence-based online programmes, which support people experiencing food addiction.
Congratulations, Dr Bennett! 🎓👏

Most diabetes guidelines pay lip service to dietary advice, using it just once at the start of the patient journey When in fact it matters throughout a person’s life with diabetes Often resulting in the potential for deprecribing of expensive medications with significant side effects
How about just avoiding foods that put your blood sugar up ?

Real question: if you could make your supermarket pull ONE thing off the shelves tomorrow, what would it be?
Mine: breakfast cereal with a picture of a heart on the box that's a third sugar.
What's yours?
