Thank you. I posted this video when I was at a complete dead end and couldn’t find any support for this area of research. It was my first ever tweet hoping that someone would find the info and use it at a more favourable time in the future. Definitely one of the most stressful times of life I can remember.
You can find in it the ideas for every paper I’ve subsequently published including the Lithium and PI3K/AKT Insulin Signaling Translational Psychiatry paper (doi.org/10.1038/s41398-022-0…) and Molecular Psychiatry Metabolic Overdrive (doi.org/10.1038/s41380-024-0…) papers I presented at Metabolic Health Summit this week.
I had hoped someone might have taken these ideas forward if I couldn’t find a way, but no-one did. So when Baszucki Group funded us I just wrote them up and published them myself. Thanks for checking this out, it took me weeks to put together.

After a long break, we have a new manuscript. Currently, this is a preprint published at Preprint.org, an open-access platform. "Preprint" means that it has a DOI number and it can be cited by any other scholarly article. This article is about the C-peptide as measured in non-T1DM patients. Here, we highlight its use and usefulness in the follow-up of patients undergoing dietary intervention therapy. Most importantly, in the article, we point to the very real danger of misdiagnosing low-carb dieters as T1DM patients as a result of low C-peptide levels, specifically when seen in combination with ketones in the urine. Practitioners (including diabetologists) should not dismiss patients following low-carb diets or the knowledge coming from patients following unconventional yet entirely scientific approaches to regain health.
