*Narrator* 60% of small-scale entrepreneurs said that the final years of the Tory Gov't damaged their business. 66% of small biz leaders felt that Sunak and the Tory Party were "out of ideas" & had lost the trust of the business community. You're rubbish at this...

Hi Ed, when we spoke at Conference, I said there was a LD consensus that @AndyBurnham must honor his commitment to restitution for all the @ExcludedUK from COVID support. You pledged to raise this at party level. so WE look forward to action this week. @Kevin_Maguire @GMB @PA
🚨EXCLUDEDUK... ON THE MAP!!!🚨 A quick media heads-up for Wednesday 28 October, Budget Day. ExcludedUK has booked a digital video and audio advertising van which will be driving around Parliament Square and Westminster from 9am to 5pm, broadcasting campaign material throughout the day. The van will feature: • video clips of Andy Burnham speaking publicly about ExcludedUK and the injustice faced by those excluded from meaningful Covid-19 financial support • testimony from ExcludedUK members about the continuing financial, personal and mental health consequences of exclusion • ExcludedUK campaign messaging and calls for recognition, accountability and redress Our most prolific campaigner, Tim Pravda, also known as @ExcludedFighter, will be around Parliament Square throughout the day, together with other ExcludedUK members, and will be available to speak to journalists and broadcasters. So, if you or any of your colleagues are in Westminster covering the Budget, please keep an eye out for the van and for Tim and our members. We would be very grateful if you could also flag this with your political, Westminster, economics or newsdesk colleagues. After more than six years, the 3.8 million taxpayers who were excluded from meaningful Covid-19 financial support are still campaigning to be heard. If you would like interviews, background information, member case studies, video footage or briefing material in advance, please contact me. 🚨 IT’S FINALLY LIVE! PLEASE SIGN AND SHARE OUR EXCLUDEDUK PETITION 🚨 After waiting for it to be approved and published, I can finally say it: My Parliamentary petition calling for financial redress for the 3.8 million taxpayers excluded from Covid-19 financial support is now LIVE!!! ✍️ PLEASE SIGN IT HERE: petition.parliament.uk/petit… The petition calls on the Government to: “Establish a fair financial redress scheme for the 3.8 million taxpayers excluded from Covid-19 financial support, reflecting the support received by comparable taxpayers and businesses.” For more than six years, millions of people who dutifully paid into the system have been fighting to be heard. Newly self-employed people. Company directors. Freelancers. New starters. Those denied furlough. PAYE freelancers. People earning over the SEISS threshold. Those affected by maternity, pensions and other circumstances. People lost income, businesses, homes and financial security while others in comparable circumstances received substantial Government support. The consequences did not simply disappear when lockdown ended. This petition is our opportunity to show Parliament that the excluded have NOT gone away. 📣 WE NEED 10,000 SIGNATURES for a Government response. 📣 WE NEED 100,000 SIGNATURES for the petition to be considered for debate in Parliament. So please do three things: ✅ SIGN IT ✅ SHARE IT ✅ Ask everyone you know to sign and share it too Please share it on Facebook, LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp, email and anywhere else you can. Tag your MP. Tag journalists. Tag broadcasters. Tag anyone who supported the excluded. We need to get this in front of as many people as possible. After six years of campaigning, we are still here. We are still fighting. And we will continue until the 3.8 million excluded taxpayers finally receive the recognition, justice and financial redress they deserve. Dutifully paid in. All chat wasn’t it @andyburnham? We get it in truth, you’re never gonna come out and financially remunerate something that your government were not responsible for but recognise the issue now you’re in power. #excludeduk
FAIR. PROPORTIONATE. DOABLE. In this video from our ExcludedUK livestream on 24 June 2024, @AndyBurnham said: “I think there are ways we can start to frame financial asks that I think are fair, proportionate and doable.” Those words matter even more today. Andy has been our loudest political champion from the beginning of the ExcludedUK campaign. He has recognised that the exclusion of 3.8 million UK taxpayers from parity of Covid-19 financial support was not simply unfortunate. It was an injustice that must be rectified. He told us: “The public see you and the public support you.” He promised: “We will work with you to make sure that the excluded is recognised as one of the injustices that this country needs to rectify.” He also made clear: “I supported you back in the pandemic, and we support you now. The passage of time doesn’t change that.” Now, as Prime Minister, Andy has the opportunity to work with ExcludedUK and the Gaps in Covid-19 Financial Support APPG to turn those words into action. We are ready to discuss financial asks that are fair, proportionate and achievable. After more than six years, the 3.8 million cannot simply be written off. Businesses, homes, livelihoods and futures were lost. More than 40 members of our community saw no other way out than to take their own lives. Recognition is fair. Accountability is proportionate. Justice is doable. Prime Minister, let us begin that work. Please email Head of ExcludedUK, Jennifer Griffiths, at [email protected] excludeduk.org #ExcludedUK #WeAreNotGoingAway #Relentless #Lab26

Small firms are the engine of growth. This Government keeps stalling them. Before my election to Parliament I spent the best part of two decades working with businesses. I learned that a healthy economy isn't measured in Treasury forecasts. It's measured by whether a business owner can see a reason to take on an apprentice or invest in a new machine. Right now, too many can't. 📉 Just 18% of small firms expect to grow this year, the lowest since the FSB's index began in 2014! 💷 A small firm with nine staff on the National Living Wage has seen its employment bill rise by £25,850 a year since January 2025! 🏪 63% of UK firms now say tax is their biggest concern! The jobs tax, higher business rates, more red tape and sky-high energy costs. Each one makes it harder for a local employer to give a young person a chance, the kind of chance I relied on growing up. The Chancellor must listen to small businesses before the next Budget. Read my full piece here 👇 peterbedford.uk/news/small-f…

After all your support over the years @sarahjolney1, thank you for meeting me outside #libdemconf to discuss the ongoing impact of #ExcludedUK, and how your party can now put pressure on @andyburnham to honour his words of restitution. @ExcludedUK @JohnDCaudwell @thatginamiller
👇 Highlights from the #ExcludedUK Pre Budget Event on Wednesday. Mr Sunak must surely be able to spare the two minutes to listen. The Chancellor would be doing the country a complete disservice if he ignores those left behind on March 3rd. It's time to bring us in from the cold.

No, Mel. What beggars belief is the way successive Tory governments created the conditions that led the hospitality industry to this point. You never did quite manage to help all those small business owners who were wiped out during lockdown, did you? #ExcludedUK #ForgottenLtd

It has been an honour to have served as Shadow Chancellor for almost two years, alongside an exceptionally strong team and a great leader in Kemi. I am especially proud of the work we have done to rebuild the Conservatives' economic credibility - an issue on which we now consistently lead in the polls - and to have developed the start of a radical and deliverable plan to turn our economy around. If we care at all about people’s living standards, about delivering world class public services, a society at peace with itself and fully protecting our country in a challenging world, then we need a credible Conservative plan to deliver far stronger economic growth. That starts with establishing fiscal responsibility and taking the tough choices on spending, allowing us to get on top of our debt and to cut taxes to support growth. I am proud that we have made an important start with our pledges to abolish Stamp Duty, cut business rates and increase the incentives for people (especially young people) to work, as well as tackling the overbearing state that is so often holding us back. The Conservative party must continue to champion an approach which is both radical and deliverable. It is essential that the next Conservative government does things very differently, backing business like never before and getting government out of the way. The Conservatives have a good story to tell on this now and one that I know will continue to grow stronger and stronger under Kemi’s leadership. I am now looking forward to continuing to make a real contribution to the Conservative team in parliament and beyond, to build and amplify our vision for Britain, from the backbenches.
