Replying to @hackney_cycling
Hackney has received £20 million to redesign Amhurst Road and Pembury Junction. It will look nicer than it does now.
The bus gate on Amhurst Road is welcome and ambitious.
Sadly, the rest of the choices prioritise aesthetic over safety, mixing cyclists with buses.
If you're around Clissold Park this Saturday, 19 September, come and say hi to Hackney Cycling Campaign – there'll be free breakfast! 🥐🍏

Another great example of just how space-efficient bikes are compared with cars. 🚲

Can someone please explain to me again why we can have protected cycle tracks on Clerkenwell Rd (a much narrower space) but not on the A10? Which is where #Cycleway1 should have been.

Construction work on new bike lanes on Clerkenwell road is progressing well - can’t wait to use them on this route from Holborn to Old St.
@CamdenCouncil @TfL
Love to see a new gateway!
The new Water Lane crossing is shaping up to be a game-changer for Newham, connecting Maryland to Forest Gate. Prioritising people, cycles, and sustainable drainage with those new rain gardens. 🌿🚲
Almost at the finish line! #HealthyStreets

Experts are saying it: SUVs damage our roads more than ordinary passenger cars.
I’ve asked @TfL to look into the effect of supersized SUVs in London as more of these vehicles take up space on London’s roads.

It won't come as a surprise to many, but good to see The Times saying that people actually like less traffic in local neighbourhoods.
Concluding no big change is ever introduced without some initial opposition - so leaders should stick to their guns!

Great to see @thetimes publishing someone with normal opinions on LTNs. Paywalled, but this paragraph seems particularly pertinent 👀 thetimes.com/comment/columni…

Tottenham screwed with Labour politicians like this.
She wants to force children to cycle with HGVs and phone drivers
Ditch Labour in Tottenham and vote Green.
Utterly shocking policy change from London Labour here and totally against the new guidelines from the government
Well said @MarshadeCordova
Disabled people and pedestrians must always be at the top of user priority in Transport Planning.
These shouldn’t even exist in 2026 as a concept. @DisabilityActHa

Removing cars from cities is always controversial, but once you're brave enough to do it and witness the improvements, nobody ever looks back.
Did you take part in the recent Queensbridge Rd consultation? You can read a report on the responses here. The Scriven St filter is NOT going ahead. No decision on whether the gap in the southbound cycle track will be filled until May consultation.hackney.gov.uk/…
