The kindness of strangers Love the NHS. Love London. Love Londoners A thread : I've been cycling daily in London for over 25 years. A couple of weeks back, shit happened. No idea how or why, in a split second, over the handlebars, I face-planted at speed into Shoreditch High St

5 a day then. Hardly ‘tough talk’. Perhaps if you had more than 0.75% of your 45000 car parking spaces for bikes, the problem would disappear overnight
Talk tough? Since May, Westminster has seized over 1,000 dangerously parked dockless bikes and issued more than 5,300 fines to operators. In Labour's last full year running the council, it issued 1,259. Keep reporting them and inspectors will act.

One more week for those who celebrate pedestrianisation and car-free areas in a city still dominated by cars
No more waiting for the green signal. In one week, the Oxford Street pedestrianisation begins. More space. Less traffic. Our nation's high street deserves no less.

It will never be sorted until the council acknowledges that the paltry 0.75% of their 45000 car parking spaces allocated for bikes is nowhere near adequate. The council are entirely negligent.
Indeed I thought this situation had now been sorted @CityWestminster @paulswaddle with @forestbike_uk ? If its not them its Lime. Not a day goes by........ See @XTonyBryant pic below 👇👇

All the evidence supports pedestrianisation. People and cars don't mix. Cars are the risk.

🐫 Forget speed bumps. 📸 Forget speed camera's. 🚫 Forget road signs. Car drivers fear nothing more than a scratch on their paint. And overestimate the size or their car (amongst other things). Crucial knowledge if you want to lower speeds. (🎞️ by David Ho)

Hands down, the quickest, cheapest, most pleasurable, least stressful, scenic way to get from A to B in London. Parking and congestion are never issues. It only applies to cars Bike it best

You've confused car ownership with LTNs. Easy mistake
LTNs are rooted in inequality. Some people's lives are improved at the expense of those living, working & attending school on the sacrificial rds; of bus users; of those dependent on their cars for a living; of many disabled people. Why do you choose to be on the dark side?

Two motorists (trying to) jump red lights this morning on Jamaica Road. One in front stopped and the other drove into the rear of them. No cyclists were involved in this. If only there was some kind of educational video highlighting the devastating consequences of such actions…

The lunatics @CamdenCouncil have ruined Theobalds road , Clerkenwell road, Grays Inn road and so much of that Area, such irresponsible people should not be allowed to make reckless decisions like this !!

Every day, 6 people get killed by cars; most get off with a paltry fine and a year's ban, if that. But cyclists......
Under a new approach, City of London police will offer cyclists who run red lights the chance to watch a “hard-hitting” road safety film instead of paying the usual £50 fixed penalty notice. Personally, I would impose a £1,000 fine and confiscate the bike. And before the 'but cars' brigade starts, I've long backed a crackdown on dangerous and reckless driving. thetimes.com/uk/crime/articl…

I seem to have missed the culture war over poorly parked dockless cars and vans, a blight that's been going on for the last 50 years, blocking pavements and reducing accessibility. It's hard not to miss the culture war on dockless bicycles. Is it a generational thing?

There are 45000 car parking spaces in Westminster. 10 bikes per space = 345 car parking spaces = 0.75% of your car parking spaces for bikes. I think I have found your problem.
Replying to @BobFromAccounts
We provide spaces for 3,450 bikes at any one time across 380 parking bays, 6,300 spaces including micro mobility bays. But when bikes are parked dangerously, we will seize them and fine the dockless bike companies.

Because @CityWestminster has put parking bays for the bikes on pavements instead of on the road where they belong. And they have done this very deliberately to avoid offending drivers. There are 45,000 on road car parking spaces in Westminster.
