How else to you determine "good and necessary consequence... deduced from Scripture"?
What is it about ChristNats and syllogisms?

I'd be confused, too. Everyone knows you only drink cappuccinos after noon.
This happened this morning at like 5:15 AM: Customer: Cappuccino. Me: Sorry? C: Cappuccino. M: Oh, sorry. I thought you had a mobile order. You’d like to order a cappuccino. I can ring you up for one on the register (I was on espresso bar).

The role of Rasmussen was written for Robin Williams, who sadly was unable to play the part. I would have loved to see that version. slashfilm.com/705087/the-sta…
I know everyone loves The Measure of Man but I've been convinced for a while now that some of his best acting was in this random episode from season 5, A Matter of Time. That's pure stage dialogue. He was so good. RIP

If a man would rather listen to a stranger than to his own minister, the minister has reason to ask what the stranger is supplying. It may be that the young man is foolish. It may also be that he is hungry, and the table in his own house is bare.

We're doing this again. Every proposition of revealed theology is grounded in Scripture. "Christ is Lord" is grounded in Scripture. But if your audience already accepts these propositions, you don't need to prove them. You can simply assume them in your argument. My guess is that Winger doesn't prove "The Bible is infallible" every time he makes a biblical argument, because his audience typically affirms that. When you and your audience agree on a set of propositions, you can then proceed with a logical argument using them. That's what I did.
Yes. He made a point NOT to ground what he was doing in Scripture yet called it Christian and tried to convince others to follow it as a matter of faithfulness. What more do we need than that? The fact he admits it doesn't make it better.

I have been thinking about writing a serious response to this. The author is not totally wrong but sadly it is very clear he does not understand the actual problem and his solution to it further perpetuates driving people away from the OPC.
NEW HORIZONS FEATURE | Where are the Young Men? by Rev. Everett Henes In Christian circles, many wonder how to reach young men in a digital age, and how to encourage them to consider ministry. Rev. Everett Henes contributes to the conversation in this month's New Horizons. Read the full article here: opc.org/nh.html?article_id=1…

I bet my PCA church has more Baptists than @YourCalvinist 's church. 😇
How many people at your church are Calvinists?

My ADHD has a very sophisticated system for evaluating my performance. If something goes well, it was easy and anyone could've done it. If something goes poorly, I am objectively bad at everything.

"Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." - Romans 5:20-21
Let me tell you about my buddy here on the bottom left, the one tatted from head to toe. We go way back to my strongman days. We lifted and trained together. He was a lawless God hater. He was always in trouble with the law. He eventually rose to president of the outlaw motorcycle gang and was the enforcer in Kentucky. Through some tragic events the Lord got a hold of him and he reached out to me around a year ago just broken. He was convinced God couldn’t redeem him. Through many hard conversations and many tears he has accepted Jesus. Left his life of crime, and is leading his family well. I’m so pumped to see him in person for the first time in well over a decade. Sunday morning he’s joining us for worship at the church I used to attend in Lexington. People can change. We serve a mighty God.

As someone who has been granted security clearances, espionage and treason are dangers that I need to be careful to avoid even the appearance. Ambassadors are given the privilege of officially representing the interests of their country. The US gives a lot of freedom to private citizens to support foreign nations, but if the accusations made against @GovMikeHuckabee were substantiated, an ambassador should be tried as treason and face the consequences for treason at that high level.
Guy calling for my assassination claims to be a “pastor.” Glad @dreverettpiper calls for his arrest.

I'mma let you finish, but Weird Al's commentary on UHF is the best ever.
Ben Affleck's DVD Commentary on Armageddon might be his best work ever

So, my friends with 10 kids will never join us for dinner if they're waiting for none of their kids to be sick.

“Endnotes are footnotes for lazy typesetters.” - Gary North
Here's a question for those of you who enjoy reading non-fiction, and history in particular: Do you prefer to see references as footnotes at the bottom of each page, or endnotes at the end of the book?

When I saw @crwiley1962 post this with the header about Zombie Tim Keller, I thought the announcement was going to be creating an AI persona of Keller that can keep writing new, relevant books.
“Digital Necromancy’ & Zombie Tim Keller This ought to unnerve us all, but it won’t. Yesterday, something called “The Global Reach Project” revealed itself. Here’s part of a letter that went out from Kathy Keller, the widow of famed Presbyterian pastor Tim Keller:” ‘Today is the day we’re launching The Global Reach Project. And I don’t often say I’m “excited” about something, but I am truly excited to tell you about it. Through this initiative, which we believe God is leading us to undertake, we are setting out to translate 500 of Tim’s most foundational sermons into 30 of the world’s most spoken languages (not counting English). Currently about 20% of the world, which speaks English as a first or second language, can access Tim’s sermons. When we complete this translation project, approximately 70% of the world will be able to listen to them. That would mean his gospel teaching will be available to millions more people. On the one hand, you might think this isn’t that big of a deal, because someone using Google Translate could quickly translate any sermon, but that’s different than what we are doing. We’re taking a much more rigorous approach. We’re not just translating the words, we’re also taking into account the cultural barriers that exist between one language and another. We’re translating the sermons with theologically trained, bilingual teams, then bringing manuscripts back to me to make sure that all of the nuances (and run on sentences!) that characterized Tim are still there, AND THEN, with special care to verify everything is correct, we’re using AI to produce the translated audio sermons in Tim’s voice.’ —- “So they’ve “resurrected” a Tim Keller avatar using AI, and making him give sermons. Hey, anything to Spread The Gospel™, right?” From Rod Dreher’s Substack. @roddreher

I'm not envious of many people in this world, but I am of people who made it to four (or five!). We stopped at three, but if we had met earlier, there coulda-woulda-shoulda have been more. Be fruitful and multiply!
Have your fourth kid. Go into debt if you have to. I did (and got out) 😆
