We have a new version of this paper out. The headline results are the same—political science must filter results heavily for statistical significance—but we've added many extensions and rewritten much of it in response to feedback (thank you!).
A quick thread on updates 👇

This is infuriating.

Say I wanted ~9k USD to buy out the teaching time of a prof (a brilliant coauthor of mine) so he can work on creating a validated ground truth dataset for a challenging data extraction and labelling task that current public LLMs (e.g. GPT5) have not yet saturated. Who do I pitch?

If it feels like survey experiments are taking over top journals, you're not wrong!
In the most recent year, about 1/5 articles in AJPS and JOP had a survey experiment. (preliminary result from work in progress with @VincentAB and @jon_mellon, come see more at SPSA)

New paper w/ @caprosser at @apsrjournal. A recent paper claim rising mass polarization in US is actually declining survey cooperation rates (only diehard partisans responding). We show evidence that this actually results from overly strong regularization

🚨 New paper out!
Excited to share this, where I take a 'weaponized interdependence' view at explaining historical failure and recent success in global tax policy - and how that view can help fight climate change and inequality🧵👇

I've wasted too much time recently trying to make sense of the bizarre mess that is an influential part of mainstream open science research. Its the kind of thing that's hard to look away from once seen.

"the main results of the paper are driven by a single outlier"
that sounds bad... let's read this APSR (2023) paper.
Oh, it has 58 observations and a complicated multilevel model with an interaction term. good to see my work on power remains relevant. lol
