They call it "tribalism" the moment a Yorùbá person speaks up for his own people.
When others do the same, it's called "community"

If we count the creek encounter it’s more than 5 self. Oghara 2012, benin-Warri road when they thought he was in that convoy, bombing close to government house in Warri, bombing close to the government house in asaba, when he was moving for peace in his creek movement he was almost shot by some rogue soldiers of Tompolo before they were intercepted. There’s more than this self. No governor has ever faces such in the history of delta state.

Ọba of Benin Decorates First Lady @SenRemiTinubu With Royal Coral Beads
The Monarch 👑 Benin, Ọba Ewuare II, has honoured Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, with the prestigious Benin traditional coral beads known as Ikele. The decoration took place on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the Oba’s Palace in Benin City.
With the honour, Senator Tinubu becomes the first Nigerian First Lady to receive the royal beads, a symbol of goodwill and appreciation from the Benin throne. She is the third prominent Nigerian woman to receive the honour, after retired Ẹdo State Chief Judge, Justice Esohe Ikponmwen, and former NTA Benin Network Centre Zonal Director, Mrs Pauline Igbanor.
In an address delivered on his behalf by his eldest daughter, Princess Ikuoyẹmwẹn Aimiuwu-Ewuare, Ọba Ewuare II prayed for divine wisdom and strength for President Bọlá Tinubu and other leaders. He also reaffirmed his commitment to preserving Benin’s cultural heritage and promoting peace, unity and the welfare of the people.
Mrs Tinubu expressed appreciation for the honour and pledged continued collaboration with traditional institutions, particularly in empowering rural women. She was in Ẹdo State at the invitation of Governor @m_akpakomiza to commission a fleet of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses acquired by the state government.

*BRIEF HISTORY OF UTESE NEW YAM FESTIVAL*
Utese is an ancient bilingual town in Ovia North-East LGA, Edo State. History says it was founded by Irado, one of the brothers of Ọ̀rànmiyan, when he was on his way from Ilẹ-Ifẹ to Benin in the 12th century. He stopped over in Utese and was crowned the 1st IRADO OLUTESE .
The *New Yam Festival* is one of their most sacred traditions. Yam is regarded as the King of Crops. It is taboo to eat new Yam 🍠 before OLUTESE performs the rites.
The festival is a day of thanksgiving to God, the gods of the land, and the ancestors for a bountiful harvest and for food security. It starts early morning with dancing, acrobatic displays by youths, and OLUTESE with his Ojoye moving from shrine to shrine with elders, men, women, children to offer prayers and sacrifices.
On that day, old yams from previous harvest are discarded, and the new yam is blessed and declared fit for eating. Sons and daughters of Utese at home and in diaspora return home to celebrate, promote unity, and renew their bond with the land.
Under the current OLUTESE , *HRM Idahosa Agidigbi I*, the festival has been revived and celebrated with more glamour as a symbol of cultural preservation.

In less than five years, one king has rekindled the pride of his people, brought out the very best in them, and reminded the world what it truly means to be Warri people.
They have showcased the breathtaking beauty of their culture, the splendour of their traditions, and the depth of their spirituality in a way that is impossible to ignore.
The love, joy, passion, and devotion they display for their king and the unmistakable Warri identity are absolutely intoxicating! Honestly, it makes me a little jealous. But they are our brothers and aisters, and I couldn't be prouder of this young king and his people. What a beautiful thing to witness a king inspire such unity, cultural pride, and collective joy among his people.
Congratulations to His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III! 👑
Long live the Olu of Warri! Long live the Itsekiri people! May your kingdom continue to flourish in cultural splendour, spiritual depth, unity, and prosperity.

AKETI @70: MAKINDE’S ABSENCE AND AMOTEKUN’S POOR REPRESENTATION SEND A DANGEROUS SIGNAL
By Bolarinwa Ayoola
Just a week ago, family members, friends, associates and admirers of the late Governor of Ondo State, Arákùnrin Odunayo @RotimiAkeredolu , SAN, CON, gathered at the famous International Conference Centre of the University of Ibadan to celebrate the life and legacy of a man whose contributions to Yorubaland, regional security and the struggle for State Police remain significant.
Organised by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (@DAWNCommission ) Commission and the Akeredolu Foundation, the posthumous birthday colloquium, tagged Aketi @70, brought the venue alive with traditional drums, music, cultural performances and the presence of distinguished personalities, political leaders and socio cultural organisations from across Yorubaland. Beyond the celebration, the event provided an opportunity to reflect on the life of a statesman whose commitment to public service and the advancement of Yoruba interests left an enduring mark on the region.
However, amid the tributes, cultural performances and celebration of Akeredolu’s life, an uncomfortable question emerged. Where were the governors of Ọ̀yọ́ and Ọṣun States?
While the Governor of Lagos State was represented by the state’s Permanent Secretary, who delivered his goodwill message, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Òndó State and Governor @DapoAbiodunCON of Ògún State attended personally. Èkìtì State was also duly represented. The absence of the Ọ̀yọ́ and Ọṣun governors was conspicuous, but the absence of Governor @seyimakinde deserves particular attention because of Ọ̀yọ́ State’s direct connection to the Amotekun initiative and the significance of Akeredolu’s contribution to regional security.
Governor @LuckyAiyedatiwa and Governor Dapo Abiodun deserve commendation for personally attending the event. Their presence demonstrated recognition of Akeredolu’s contributions beyond the boundaries of Ondo State. Governor Abiodun deserves particular commendation for delivering the keynote address, in which he reiterated the urgency of actualising State Police and emphasised the enduring value of the late statesman’s contributions. His message was a reminder that remembering Akeredolu should mean more than celebrating his birthday after death. It should also mean pursuing the ideals for which he worked.
The actualisation of State Police remains an urgent question of security and governance in Nigeria. The need for a more responsive policing structure is inseparable from the safety of our communities and the ability of security institutions to address local threats effectively. Akeredolu was among the prominent voices who pushed this debate forward, and his contribution deserves to be recognised by every state that stands to benefit from a more effective security architecture.
Governor Seyi Makinde’s absence remains deeply disappointing. What makes his absence particularly difficult to comprehend is the direct connection between Oyo State and Amotekun. Ibadan, the capital of the state he governs, hosted the launch of the regional security network that Akeredolu worked so hard to bring into existence. Oyo State was part of the regional effort that produced Amotekun, an initiative established to strengthen security cooperation and respond to the peculiar security challenges confronting communities across the South West.
Equally troubling was the seemingly scanty representation of the Western Nigeria Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun, at the colloquium.
Amotekun must not become a political instrument for sending messages, rewarding allies or expressing hostility towards opponents. Its fundamental responsibility is to protect lives and property and serve communities within its lawful mandate. Its institutional identity must transcend the political fortunes and personal preferences of individual governors.
