Unforgettable AKETI: A special colloquium is being held in honour of the late Arákùnrin Akeredolu, SAN, to commemorate what would have been his 70th birthday and celebrate his enduring legacy, leadership, and contributions to Ondo State and Nigeria. #AketiAt70 #StatePolice
For Akeredolu, State Police was never an abstract debate. He questioned, again and again, a system that makes governors answerable for security in their states while giving them little control over the police. Today, on what would have been his 70th birthday, that conversation goes on. The question is no longer only whether Nigeria should have State Police, but how to build one that works. 📅 Thursday, 8 October 2026 🕙 10:00am 📍 International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan #AketiAt70 #StatePolice #NationalSecurity

Chief Oluremi Olowu at 80: Nigeria’s Pioneer NEMA Director-General and Her Remarkable Legacy. What does it take to turn an emergency relief agency into an institution built to save lives? For Chief (Mrs.) Oluremi Olowu, it meant bringing legal expertise, decisive leadership and accountability to some of Nigeria’s most difficult moments. From helping shape Nigeria’s aviation laws to transforming NERA into NEMA, responding to the Kano floods and the Ikeja explosion, her career was defined by service when it mattered most. At 80, we celebrate an Akinkanju whose work helped strengthen institutions and serve Nigerians in moments of crisis. Read the full article here: bit.ly/oluremiolowu @nemanigeria
