New Test Drive gameplay video of 'Din's Champion' by @Soldak is now available on my channel for human consumption! It's a mash-up of Terraria and Diablo with a pinch of Rimworld-style colony management. Check it out: youtu.be/bX_miTbCigc?si=Qp1L…

What if the world kept moving even when you weren't there? 👀 That's what makes @Soldak's Din's Champion so interesting. ⚔️ Enemies can plan ambushes and uprisings 🌎 The world keeps evolving without you 🔥 Your choices can have real consequences This is the kind of RPG where you can't just take your time. #IndieGame #ActionRPG

RPGs are always better when the world feels alive. 👀 What I love about @Soldak's Din's Champion is that the world doesn't just sit there waiting for you. ⚔️ Dozens of classes and deep skill trees 🌎 A world that keeps evolving 🔥 Your choices can actually change what happens This looks like a seriously fun RPG to get lost in. #IndieGame #ActionRPG

Streaming more Din's Champion (developed by @Soldak) with @AliasOnTwitch and @CrathPlays! Last time we were forced to reckon with the game's increased difficulty with the more recent game patches, but this time we're ready! Plus my necromancer can summon more skeletons now 💀

The key to successfully making games is to make the game you want to play. The market size should determine the budget, not which game you make.

lol if you think indie is any easier or more stable than AAA I’ve got ̶a̶ ̶b̶r̶i̶d̶g̶e̶ 14,000+ games released on Steam last year that you’ve never even heard of, to sell you. There are established indies with track records closing down cause they can’t raise funds to survive.

this didn't happen to me (yet?). But sometimes I read players commenting on INDIE games (real indies, not triple III, or indies with $1M budget) saying things like "ah dev got lazy" or "why they didnt' add feature XYZ" and so on. They don't realize a simple thing - we have a lot of TIME and MONEY constraints. My next game is smaller compared to many others I did, and yet, if I could make a list of things that I wanted to add if I had more time and money, I could probably fill 20 pages of text... Many many times indies have to cut corners to avoid going bankrupt or simply spending too much time on a project when they fear that, due to market saturation, lower exposure, increased costs, etc etc they will NEVER recover all that time and money they have spent. TLDR; be kind to small indies, it's very likely that they could have done a much much better product having more time and money available 😅

So underrated. Started Din's Curse a few weeks ago and some of the features still blew me away. It was so refreshing after playing the D4 Beta.

Drox Operative is really good. You're playing space-Diablo while a bunch of AI opponents are playing Civilization on the same map. You have the power to wage single handed war for or against them. Or trade. Or help them. Or cobble them into a Federation. Or ignore them completely

Information. I may not release any more games on Mac because of this. The compiler I use makes 32-bit apps which are totally fine except Apple says “no”.

So many great, high-profile games out there... and I'm looking forward to Din's Legacy. :p

I continue to find it frustrating that Soldak's formula for ARPGs hasn't caught on. Even basic ARPG quests become much more effective with some success and failure effects.

I just made my kid a burrito and he turned it sideways, started eating from the middle, & it exploded all over the dining room floor. In case you wanted to know what being a game designer feels like.

In our new series featuring indie game developers, we ask them a fixed set of questions about one of their games. We are kicking this series off with Steven Peeler from @Soldak talking about Zombasite: rpgwatch.com/articles/rpgwat…
