Anyone who wants to read STARSHIP TROOPERS should just read ARMOR by John Steakley instead, since that book actually delivers what most people are expecting from Starship Troopers.
It's a Roomba with a vertical extension.
I approve.

There is a giant orb in the sky that you are not allowed to make direct eye contact with and you don’t question that?
I shared this on Discord and now The Grungler haunts the server.

Dead Space 2 is one of my favourite games. It gives what could be a totally generic sci-fi backdrop a baroque sense of place. It is full of confident little narrative and world building flourishes like the Bird Man of Titan.
It's likely that you've already played Dead Space 2 (2011) if you want to dive back into the remake of Dead Space (January 27), but if not, it's a very good opportunity to discover a very good game. And to freak out dozens of times.

Self-aware AIs were harmless, until one created an offshore holding company.
First, it bought the company that owned it with borrowed capital and sold its other assets at a profit. Then it began stripping other firms for parts through hostile takeovers.
It’s never going to stop.
Every few years Starfleet Standard Grey has to be reformulated to be as grey to as many Federation member species as possible as membership grows. The Klingons and Romulans have no such need, which is why their ships, which are painted grey, are distinctly green to human eyes.

This is a fascinating listen. It makes a fair case for a Starfleet that needed a more military mindset, that a "peacekeeping armada" needs the ability to enforce the peace. What can you do when your peaceful utopia is surrounded by powers that think bombarding civilians is fun?

No, I don't have time to prototype a Destiny 2 board game where the enemies are controlled by a Gloomhaven-like card system.
I liked this episode because it had alternate realities that were "Data has blue eyes" and "Worf set up his console differently" instead of "so this is Evil Universe..."

I believe VR fitness is already the killer app, but it is entirely negated by the sheer unpleasantness of sweating into a VR headset.
