"Most of the children from disadvantaged background are falling behind and may never catch up.Four out of five children who are behind in 3rd Grade are still behind when they reach Year 9. And many of those children don’t finish school." Extract from Jason Clare's speech.
Last night I gave a sneak peak of the teacher advertising campaign that will kick off later this year.

A tale of two cities: in Canberra, a Churchill fellow is celebrated for endeavors in researching & promoting evidence-based literacy instruction; in Melbourne, a FOI order reveals Ed Dept suppressed a good news story of evidence-based literacy instruction. theage.com.au/national/victo…

It is absurd but sadly unsurprising that evidence of the impact of systematic and explicit reading instruction in Vic schools was buried by the state government. Victoria has many outstanding schools despite the active resistance of the dept to best practice.

A few responses saying that we SoR people are ‘mean’. But please…this is serious. What’s ‘mean’ is thousands of children not learning to read when companies and individuals are making $$$ out of flawed ideas. It’s criminal. And cruel.
