We interviewed researchers, head teachers, teachers, literacy specialists, criminal justice experts, charities and, importantly, children & adults who have struggled to read.
"Inside the Reading Gap" looks at the scale and depth of poor literacy in society, the impact on individuals and the social and economic costs. We also look at what schools must do to prevent thousands of functionally illiterate school leavers going into their adult lives ill-equipped for its challenges.
Finally, we show that it's possible to teach virtually all children to read and the life-changing power that reading brings. It's challenging, but it's also a message of hope.
We hope this trailer (sound on 🔈) resonates with you and helps you to see why good literacy for ALL underpins everything else in the education system.
