That's a wrap!!
Amazing what can happen with 10 days of good weather & farmers running on caffeine & nicotine!!
Some warm weather and rain in the forecast... combine that with the excellent planting conditions the past 5-7 days and NE IA could be looking at a very nice crop....

We've had reports of cutworms activity. While we focus a lot on black cutworms (migratory) in corn, they are't the only species! There are also bronzed and dingy cutworms (native).

With planters rolling across the state, what's your guess on how many acres could be planted this week? Per suitable day over the last five years, the average # of corn and soybean acres planted peaks at ~950,000 acres/day.

"Overall, research data show the ability of various fungicide programs to reduce [corn] leaf disease severity, lengthen grain fill duration, and increase final kernel weight, each of which helps explain the yield component mechanisms when foliar diseases are controlled."
From @ASA_CSSA_SSSA's Fungicide Program Impacts on Corn Grain Fill Duration, Kernel Weight, and Grain Yield at doi.org/10.1002/csc2.70172 by @M_Bartaburu Lia Olmedo Pico @DTelenko & @PurdueCorn.
Always consider resistance management when choosing to apply fungicides. It is important to keep these important disease management tools working well.

Our @WISoyCheckoff funded cover crop maturity group by termination timing trial is really showing some cool differences again in 2025! In short when planting green plant a touch longer bean and terminate within 5 days of planting to minimize yield loss!
