Minnesota Sen. Gene Dornink (R-Brownsdale), during a hearing on sick time, calls a female pilot a “stewardess” and apologizes: PILOT: I’m a first officer for Delta. DORNINK: I’m sorry? PILOT: I’m a pilot.

We’re grateful to @SecretaryPete, Acting Administrator @PollyTrott, the @USDOT and the @FAANews for upholding the highest standards of aviation safety & security in the world. Today’s FAA announcement to examine the public charter loophole is a significant step in the right direction. Airlines like the proposed SkyWest Charter operation would use this loophole to skirt the aviation safety rules that have led to a 99.8% reduction in airline passenger fatalities. Today, I proudly voted to stand with Air Line Pilots against unfairly raising their retirement age without analysis, study, or oversight by any U.S. safety agency. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to remove this harmful provision from FAA Reauthorization.

We stand in solidarity w/ rail workers in their fight for a fair contract, including paid sick leave. Rail workers, like all frontline transportation employees, made enormous sacrifices during the pandemic to keep America moving & deserve to be recognized for their contributions.

There are at least 500 Pilots and Flight Attendants picketing with a well coordinated shift change and three orbits of picketers. This is just Atlanta - looks like there may be 1500 picketing across the country today! #HotLaborSummer
Right now @DeltaAFA Flight Attendants are out in solidarity with @Delta_Pilots fighting for their contract. #DeltaPilotsReadyToStrike #HatsOff

Join me in honoring the memory of Capt. Saracini who died on 9/11 by telling Congress to cosponsor and pass the Saracini Enhanced Aviation Safety Act, which mandates the #SecondaryBarriers recommended by the 9/11 Commission. alpa.quorum.us/campaign/3237… alpa.quorum.us/campaign/3237…

Today is the anniversary of United 232, one of the most dramatic events to unfold in #aviation. That day, four highly trained @UnitedPilots turned an improbable failure into what was an impossible outcome. These @ALPA pilots showcase the critical importance of a #WellTrainedPilot

#Training and #Experience. Two important #Pilot requirements, just like having two #TrainedforLife pilots on the #FlightDeck.
ALPA #pilots are #TrainedForLife and ready for takeoff. This nation’s #pilots are not missing a single beat when it comes to safely transporting people and goods around the globe. -@ALPAPresident Capt. Joe DePete
