Last year, thanks to tenants & organizers, @MoCoCouncilMD passed a historic law to limit rent increases and fees. Now, the County Council must approve regulations to enforce rent stabilization. Write a comment supporting strong regs using our guide: docs.google.com/document/d/1…

Remembering lost trans lives to violence and suicide, including those taken by the police. Addressing the alarming trend of violence against Black trans individuals is crucial for progress. Stand with our Black trans siblings in the fight for liberation. 🏳️‍⚧️ #TransDayOfRemembrance

Today on #TransDayOfRemembrance, we remember and mourn the trans and gender non-conforming people in the US and Puerto Rico who have been killed since last year’s Transgender Day of Remembrance—most of them with guns—and the two trans people killed at Club Q the night before. Between 2017-2022, there were 224 homicides of transgender or gender non-conforming people. This violence disproportionately impacts Black trans women: While just 13% of the trans population in the US is estimated to be Black, 66% of known trans gun homicide victims were Black women. This violence doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Easy access to guns only makes transphobia deadlier, and the lawmakers who push anti-trans bills and attack our already-weak gun laws create an environment ripe for this kind of violence. All trans people deserve to live authentically without fear of hate-fueled violence. We will continue to honor the lives cut short by working to #DisarmHate.
