I added a very basic implementation of webmentions to @tryvowel. Now Vowel websites can interact on the social web with no complicated setup.
Vowel includes microformats markup and it automatically sends webmentions during the publish step.

Working on it with @tryvowel 😅
✅ First step: A simple syntax for describing static websites.
✅ Second step: An engine to build HTML.
⬜️ Third step: A validator to enforce schemas.
⬜️ Fourth step: A GUI to edit and publish content.

What's missing from the static site flow is a visual editor that makes the initial setup and design process more friendly. Someone should make this!

I built @tryvowel because I wanted a way to build a website from scratch without writing any HTML or JS (or in-betweens like JSX, Svelte, Vue, PHP, etc).
When you build a website with Vowel, you only write CSS (optionally), with content in Markdown.

What feature should I add to @tryvowel next?

Some dependency conflicts resolved themselves, so I was able to refactor the start command for @tryvowel, and it feels so sweet.
If anyone wants to do this lmk
Own your content.
Blogs are still a thing, and blogs have always been a thing. They didn't go anywhere. My technical blog is thriving. People come back to old posts constantly.
Something I posted 10 months ago is still my top performing post. Social media posts are ephemeral and if something happens to your content - it's gone.
Host your own blog, control your content. My social media posts may max out at 500-1000 views but my blog page views have a consistent baseline of 30k/a month.
And I haven't posted in a bit.

Do you really need a megamenu?
Index pages work perfectly with no JavaScript and they reinforce a user's intuitive understanding of website structure.

The replies to this tweet *are all over the place*.
The web is more than thirty years old, and we still don't have an obvious way to build basic websites.
