Just think that if the Digital ID is forced upon us and we all reject it by not using social media, not buying online, not using credit cards etc we would essentially take the country back to the 1990s with cash, local businesses, farm support etc

The desire to restrict speech & association is palpable. It is not new, and those calling for it have not gained a more sophisticated understanding of the internet in the decade since this.
Legislators, and the government, are choosing to see harm where harm is not there. When that proves inadequate, harms may be outright invented by said government.
