In the 1.300 years of Muslim-Arab slave trade, approximately a million Greeks were sold as slaves. Greek girls who were pretty were forced into prostitution after being enslaved to Turks who took all their earnings. Women captives were known to be subjected to sexual abuse. After Chios Massacre (March 30, 1822) where the Muslim Turks slaughtered 42.000 Christian Greeks, 52.000 women and children were sold as slaves in the markets of Smyrna & Constantinople. On September 1, 1821, Samothrace was devastated by the Ottomans through a general massacre, 10.000 men & boys were slaughtered while women & children were sold also in the markets of Constantinople & Smyrna. Only those who converted to Islam survived. On July 14, 1821, 486 Greeks of Cyprus were publicly beheaded because they didn't convert to Islam. On 13-22 September 1922, thousands of women (Greeks and Armenians) were mass raped and slaughtered in Smyrna from the Islamic horde, the Young Turks, who were motivated by racial and religious hatred. Only those who converted to Islam survived. They aimed the Christians of Anatolia and tried to erase our Greek footprint. They failed. On 6-7 of September 1955, during the Constantinople pogroms, Muslim Turks committed rapes againt the Greek community of the City. Hundreds of women expelled and raped. Now there is a minotiry of less than 2.000 Greeks living in the city that their ancestors found, Constantinople. In 1974, the Muslim Turks invaded the island of Cyprus and raped in the name of their god thousands of Greek women from 12 to 71 years old. Even the Church of Cyprus had consented through its tolerance to the amendment of the legislation in 1974, so that the abortions of that period became legal. Women captives were known to be subjected to sexual abuse. Male Muslims were given the right to have sex with female captives (slaves), which was phrased: "those men who guard their genitals, except with their wives and those whom their right hands possess, for then there is no blame" (Quran 23:6), which granted men the right to have sex not only with their wives but also with female captive slaves. The war crimes, the rapes of women from 12 to 71 years old, and the atrocities committed by the Muslim Turks during the invasion of Cyprus in 1974, ONLY 52 years ago, have been recorded through testimonies and evidence in a report of the European Commission of Human Rights. According to the report, mass killings of civilians were carried out systematically by the Turkish army. Not only unarmed soldiers who had surrendered, but also civilians, including children from 6 months to 11 years old, women and old people up to the age of 90, even people who were paralyzed, mentally disabled, and blind, were killed by Turkish soldiers. Eyewitnesses reported the killings of hundreds of people by the Turkish forces. The complaints also include killings of people who had tried to visit areas under Turkish military control in order to collect their belongings from their homes. A witness stated that in this mass killing she lost her husband, her father, two sons-in-law, and an uncle. She herself and a group of fellow villagers were taken prisoner by Turkish soldiers when they tried to reach the mountains to escape the bombardment. All the men who were captured were civilians and were wearing civilian clothes. The Turkish soldiers told them that they would wait for orders from their officer, who would decide their fate. When the officer arrived, he appeared angry and ordered the soldiers to get down and load their weapons, which they did. Another soldier, whom she described as "a good man," then intervened, and the Turkish soldiers discussed the matter for half an hour. They then separated the men from the women and, in front of the women, began shooting the men. They killed twelve. Some of the men were holding children while they were being shot. Three of those children were wounded. Another incident reported by a witness is the killing of seventeen members of neighboring families. The victims were ten women and five children, aged from two to nine years. She also submitted a document which she presented as an English translation of a written testimony by a sixteen-year-old child who survived the killing. According to the report, the Government of Cyprus alleged: "Mass and repeated rapes of women of all ages, from 12 to 71 years old, and in some cases to such a degree that the victims suffered hemorrhages or became mental wrecks. In some areas enforced prostitution was practiced. All the women and girls were gathered into separate rooms in empty houses. There they were raped repeatedly by the Turkish troops. In certain cases members of the same family were raped repeatedly, in front of their own children. In other cases, women were raped publicly in a bestial manner. In other cases the rapes were accompanied by bestial acts, such as violent biting that caused serious wounds to the victims, striking their heads against the floor, and strangling their necks almost to the point of suffocation. In several cases attempted rapes were accompanied by the stabbing or killing of the victim. The rape victims included pregnant women and mentally disabled women." Among many other cases, a mentally disabled girl was raped in her home by twenty soldiers, one after another. When the victim began to scream, they threw her from a second-floor window: she suffered a spinal injury and was left paralyzed. One day after their arrival in the village of Voni, the Turks gathered the girls in a house and raped them. Turkish soldiers tried to rape a 17-year-old schoolgirl. She resisted and they killed her. One woman reported that girls were being held in various towns as prostitutes. She had seen with her own eyes at least 25 young girls together. A woman from Voni was raped on three occasions by four men, one after another. She became pregnant. "They put us in a school classroom in Voni, along with the rest of the family. They would come in whenever they wanted, choose us, and take us to satisfy their sexual desires. I didn't go out to get rations. I always wore my grandmother's clothes to look old, but they could see my face. I only went out when I needed the toilet. I was constantly wrapped in a blanket, and all the little kids sat on top of me so that the Turks wouldn't keep dragging me away and raping me. This lasted for three months, until the Red Cross arrived." According to testimonies from doctors recorded in the book by Chrysanthos Chrysanthou, "The Other War of the Doctors in 1974," hundreds of brutally abused women became pregnant and special legislation had to be passed so that they could terminate their pregnancies. Many abortions were performed in private clinics, several at the Nicosia General Hospital, while due to the overcrowding of that hospital with war wounded, many abortions were undertaken by doctors at the hospitals of the British Bases in Dhekelia and Akrotiri.
