Rafe Heydel-Mankoo is a historian, broadcaster and commentator specialising in British identity, the monarchy, immigration and the institutions and traditions that shape our national life.
For more than two decades, Rafe has provided expert commentary on major royal, constitutional and ceremonial events for broadcasters including the BBC, Sky News, Fox News, ABC and CBC. He is also a Senior Fellow at the New Culture Forum, where his work explores questions of national identity, shared culture, immigration and social cohesion.
Rafe is co-editor and co-author of Burke’s World Orders of Knighthood and Merit, a major two-volume reference work used by royal households, embassies and government protocol offices around the world. He has advised governments and received both the Queen Elizabeth II Golden and Diamond Jubilee Medals in Canada.
At a time when Britain’s history, identity and institutions are increasingly contested, Rafe brings historical depth, clarity and a passionate defence of the traditions that bind a nation together.

At every turn they’re trying to limit speech: Ofcom, ‘Islamophobia’, Online Safety Act, now this….
BREAKING PM Andy Burnham has announced plans for a new National Centre for Information Defence to improve community cohesion and prevent a "distorted and untrue narrative about Britain".
The new centre will draw up expertise and best practice, and ensure the UK has the defensive capability necessary to combat information warfare and build national resilience.
Mr Burnham said: "There is no national security without a strong, cohesive society. That’s the starting point for everything we hold dear and everything we want to achieve. But the fact is that it has been under attack.
"In recent years we have seen an industrial-scale assault by hostile actors on the information environment in the UK and many of our allies.
"Russian agencies have used every means at their disposal to spread lies and disinformation and prey on people’s fears. They’ve used bots and fake websites. Falsified newspaper articles.
"Forged the branding of 28 British organisations – including universities and the BBC. They’ve amplified far right narratives. And we have evidence that they tried to interfere with the 2019 General Election.
"We also know that they have tried to stoke tensions and unrest in the wake of horrific events. The idea that anyone would try to use such things to their advantage is just repulsive – but it is what they do."

How will adults access the unrestricted internet without proving who they are?
Under the Government’s plans, increasingly, they won’t.
Minister Lisa Nandy says the Government will introduce a new law requiring major tech platforms to build government-mandated “protections” directly into phones and tablets.
Adults may then have to prove their age to switch them off. But meaningful proof of age ultimately means some form of identity verification - whether through official documents, facial estimation or another approved system.
The direction of travel is clear: they want you to submit to an identity check - or accept a restricted internet.
We say: Don't ID The Internet. Stop digital ID and age verification systems that function as identity checks, plus device-level surveillance on apps and phones in the UK. Protect parental control and privacy. Protect the open internet.
