A friend in a bar once complained that I got bought drinks way more than she did. I asked if she ever smiled at cute guys. She said no, that's way too forward! I asked if she ever separated herself from the group to buy a drink or pick a song on the jukebox. She said no, she liked someone to go with her! I pointed out we were there with 2 guy friends so guys didn't know if we were single. She said, but one is gay & one has a girlfriend! 🤦‍♀️ Cute women really out here on pick-up Easy Mode & they still won't try 😅

hot take: the first date shouldn't be fun on purpose. lots of people can have fun together at mini golf, a concert, or some elaborate activity. but the more entertaining the date, the harder it is to tell whether you actually like the person. if you're looking for a long-term relationship, the best first dates are simple. a walk in a nice park. ice cream. a drink on a patio. dates that are light but focus on the person rather than the activity. it's surprisingly easy to enjoy an activity. it's much harder to enjoy a person. the first few dates are for figuring out which one it is.

so do kids these days not know “you tell the smart girl she’s pretty and the pretty girl she’s smart” has this ancestral knowledge been lost
girls in SF have an unhealthy obsession with being perceived as hot in a way that LA NYC Miami girls do not bother with and it's frankly embarrassing

Spending on things we haven't built yet is exceeding spending on things we already have. Mind blowing stuff.

Second-time Founders is my favourite gender : 1) no deck until someone asks three times 2) first hire is a lawyer 3) distribution for the product before the product exists 4) "we don't need a big round" and means it this time 5) replies to every customer email personally because they know what ignoring customers cost them last time 6) sleeps 8 hours and ships faster than everyone else 7) the only person in the room who isn't impressed by the term sheet Second-time founders are the best breed of founders

Terence Tao spent a year at the Institute for Advanced Study - no teaching, no random events of committees, just unlimited time to think. But after a few months, he ran out of ideas. Terence thinks that mathematicians and scientists need a certain level of randomness and inefficiency to come up with new ideas.

You should always use uuids as your password, so when it’s stolen they will think it’s a csv column issue and move onto the next row

If a developer says: I’ll fix it in 1 hour. Just believe them. No need to send a follow-up in every 3 hours.

I will always stan any man or woman, liberal or conservative who takes an annoyingly principled stand on a topic at the expense of partisan politics and their own convenience.
