I’m not saying it’s like the last days of Rome or anything but they’ve decided to replace Lee Anderson with this as the Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party.

Chris Patten has just murdered the party of which he was Chairman. It’s all in here - the bilge of Brexit, the worst foreign policy error ever made, and the insanity of the right wing cult’s grip on this once great political machine. Pure gold, spread it.

In a country with a functioning democratic system and somewhat healthy political culture, people like this would be shunned and ostracized, a party elevating them would not be considered a viable option by anyone but an extremist fringe.
America, however, evidently has neither.
NEW: Michele Marrow, the GOP nominee to run North Carolina’s public schools and its $11 billion budget has repeatedly called for executing Democrats including Joe Biden and Barack Obama (who she said she wanted executed PPV on TV).

This is extraordinary. Notable also that Donelan’s published retraction rather underplays the events described here. I wonder whether *anything* is a resignation issue in Rishi Sunak’s government…
Michelle Donelan, the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, has today tweeted a full retraction of her false allegations about Professor Kate Sang and agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to her.

At #PMQs I asked the Prime Minister if the Conservative Party were illegally scraping data - from a link he tweeted on the 6th January.
The @GoodLawProject have already launched a legal challenge against them regarding the cookie policy on their website.

Sorry. Maybe I have false memory syndrome, but I don’t remember the Brexit campaigners during referendum warning companies that cost of doing business was going to rise steeply and become ever more bureaucratic. Maybe I wasn’t paying attention

Dame @andrealeadsom MP tells @KayBurley businesses need to "adapt" to leaving the EU single market and the rising cost of checks on food and plant imports as a result of Brexit.

If you live in a Tory "Special Economic Zone"....or what I prefer to call a Tory Thief-dom 😡
Watch out as Michael Gove quietly changed law so that business, agri and residential properties can be "acquired" by govt.
It's called a corrupt Land Grab in my dictionary
Be EXTREMELY concerned
Replying to @carolvorders
Gove updated his Leveling Up Bill last Oct to include a section on Compulsory Purchase Orders, business, agri, and residential properties can be 'acquired' by the govt to aid 'economic growth'. See for yourself, corporate governance in full swing👇🏻

I am historian Kemi, and I teach the British Empire to university students. I’m sorry to have to tell you that, for over 30 years, I’ve been updating my reading lists in the light of new research.
Please can you tell me which year’s lists I should go back to for my students to get a correct and complete account?
Or maybe you’d prefer I just stick with 19th century writers like Charles Dilke, who wrote of colonialism being necessary to ensure “the defeat of the cheaper by the dearer peoples”?

More Brexit chaos. More Brexit costs. Dearer food prices on the way.
And yet Labour supports Brexit. Ludicrously, Sir Keir Starmer says “there’s no case to rejoin the EU.”
The case is overwhelming. And in Scotland we’ve a Brexit escape route: independence & back into the EU.
