ALT Patterns.dev is free book on design patterns and component patterns for building powerful web apps with vanilla JavaScript and React. We publish patterns, tips and tricks for improving how you architect apps for free. Keep in mind, design patterns are descriptive, not prescriptive. They can guide you when facing a problem other developers have encountered many times before, but are not a blunt tool for jamming into every scenario. Patterns.dev aims to be a catalog of patterns (for increasing awareness) rather than a checklist (what you must do).

ALT Spotify uses CSS linear-gradient to make bright text on a bright background more readable. In this image, background: linear-gradient(0deg, #00000088 30%, #ffffff44 100%); is used for Discover Weekly cover art. This adds a gradient that gets darker lower down in the image, enabling the white text to be read more easily.

ALT You can now copy CSS properties quicker with a few new shortcuts. In the Elements panel, select an element.
