WooCommerce isn't trying to be Shopify, and it doesn't need to.
In my @checkoutsummit talk next week, I'll talk about the types of sites and business models where WooCommerce is genuinely the better choice.

In WordPress, you can go from valued community member to persona non grata overnight. Not for sabotage. For suggesting the project should be led differently. I wrote about what that does to an ecosystem: coenjacobs.com/blog/fear-voiā¦

After asking what people love about WooCommerce, it's time to explore the other side - what makes some people hesitate to use it. Not to complain, but to understand where it can grow stronger or be promoted more effectively.
If youāve ever decided not to use WooCommerce, what was the reason?
Thanks to everyone who replied to my WooCommerce question - I analyzed the responses and published a full breakdown at barn2.com/blog/why-woocommerā¦.
Interestingly, most people donāt choose WooCommerce directly because itās open source. They choose it because of what open source gives them: Freedom.
- Freedom to customize without limits
- Freedom to own their data
- Freedom from platform fees and lock-in

I stole this idea and now use it with every single employee.
Itās the best illustration Iāve seen of teaching someone to be high agency.
It says there are 5 levels of work:
Level 1: āThere is a problem.ā
Level 2: āThere is a problem, and Iāve found some causes.ā
Level 3: āHereās the problem, here are some possible causes, and here are some possible solutions.ā
Level 4: āHereās the problem, hereās what I think caused it, here are some possible solutions, and hereās the one I think we should pick.ā
Level 5: āI identified a problem, figured out what caused it, researched how to fix it, and I fixed it. Just wanted to keep you in the loop.ā
Using this framework, hereās what I say to every new employeeā¦
You will live at Level 4 from Day 1 and as we build trust you will rise to Level 5.
Being high agency doesnāt just mean tackling problems in this way. It means your entire way of working should be oriented to being a Level 4+ employee.
Plz feel free to steal it as well.
And ty @stephsmithio for the framework!
