Over the last few months, it has been a delight to see the TSEE (The Science and Experience of Energy) community grow and flourish. The rich TSEE community includes people not trained as scientists or doctors, mothers and fathers, practitioners, researchers, clinicians, entrepreneurs, artists, and all sorts of other human beings.
On TSEE, we've shared some hardcore mitochondrial science, personal stories of what it feels like when mitochondria don't work normally, and laboratory stories of what it's like to be a scientist working at the intersection of fields.
Thanks to @niroshajmurugan and @PhDMarie for their hard work that makes this journey possible and so enjoyable!
We'd love to see you there: tseenergy.substack.com

Across 18 rodent studies, serotonergic psychedelics cut proinflammatory cytokines in inflammation models (SMD -1.23), not in healthy animals (-0.06).
In people, 3 of 10 trials found an anti-inflammatory effect.

Are psychedelics anti-inflammatory!?
I am beyond excited to present the first systematic review and meta-analysis of the immunomodulatory effects of serotonergic psychedelics!

Exercise massively increases energy flux through the whole organism and elicits adaptations that, overall, decrease energy resistance.
First principles say that when biology operates at lower energy resistance, energy can transform more efficiently, leaving less age-related damage behind.

Look at these gorgeous, dynamic, orange mitochondria surrounding the blue nucleus.
A view of life from beneath a cell monolayer in a parti dish. Whatever angle you look at it, life is always dynamic and pretty special.

Congratulations and many thanks to my co-1st author, @anna_skovgaard @geraldbillac @MichaelBenros Ellen Bradley, MD @TheBorisLab @thebandlab @kristen_nishimi, @thethrivelab
Last, but certainly not least- absolutely none of this would be possible without one of my wonderful graduate mentors, and the one and only godfather of psychedelic immunomodulation @lab_nichols !
Congratulations and many thanks to my co-1st author, @anna_skovgaard , and our incredible team @geraldbillac @kristen_nishimi @MichaelBenros @TheBorisLab @thebandlab !!!!
