High intensity exercise can improve cardiorespiratory fitness, reduce cardiovascular risk and provide psychological benefit in individuals with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. However, for these positive effects to have a lasting impact, regular exercise must become a consistent habit.
So proud that my PhD work has just been published in EHJ. Thank you to my fantastic supervisory team, collaborators, physiologists and most importantly the incredible participants and cardiac rehabilitation team without whom none of this would be possible.

I've spent almost a decade championing exercise in my ICC patients and am so proud to see this article providing a practical approach to exercise prescription in patients with cardiomyopathies and channelopathies published in @Heart_BMJ today. I hope that this article empowers health professionals to have discussions around exercise and provide recommendations.
Many thanks to @DrRaghavBhatia Hamish MacLachlan @_HelenMayAlex @nabeelsheikh99 @robcoops82 for their valuable contributions and to @kazemr for believing in the proposal!

More data to suggest blanket exercise restriction in HCM may not be warranted. Patient selection is important but in this population vigorous exercise did not increase risk of cardiac events.
