Padding within an SVG is so aggravating! Please do not do this. I will add the padding myself!

(poll) The "priority of constituencies" (prioritizing users > devs > ...) is a design principle of the HTML spec. w3.org/TR/html-design-princi… while this is explicitly for HTML/web features, how should web devs feel about or treat it when designing their web apps?

Accessibility is foundational. If a UI design requires ignoring accessibility, we should probably change the design. And good news: Accessible design tends to be *less* work, not more. Why? Because accessible designs use the web platform as intended.

It was time! Today is official-end-of-life of Internet Explorer. RIP!
As a web developer this is one of the happiest announcements in a while: Google Search ended support for IE11 in its main product 🎉 (you can still search but will get a fallback experience). I'm mostly posting this so you can send it to your boss 😛. We did the Math. It is time.

It's quite amazing how modern web devs can figure out how to piece together complex JavaScript modules with build tools and linters and various scripts running everywhere. But they still can't figure out how to properly use HTML buttons so websites can be more accessible. #a11y

The State of JS is a measurement of hype metrics, not representative at all of the existing ecosystem or community, and I hope no one takes it seriously. The methodology is deeply flawed. This fantastic post by @_davideast goes into more detail davidea.st/articles/sampling…

Good thread about why blogging is like buying your next job on a payment installment plan. Put the work in ahead of time, and then it pays off with job offers later. You're not writing for a new job RIGHT NOW, just paying a little in advance for when you need it.
Here we are, now going on the fourth straight month of headlines all about how a record number of people are quitting their jobs. There's a lot of pain behind that statistic, but also a strident, activated edge to labor that feels unlike anything seen in my lifetime.

I'm back from a week at my mom's house and now I'm getting ads for her toothpaste brand, the brand I've been putting in my mouth for a week. We never talked about this brand or googled it or anything like that. As a privacy tech worker, let me explain why this is happening. 🧵
