Padding within an SVG is so aggravating! Please do not do this. I will add the padding myself!

(poll) The "priority of constituencies" (prioritizing users > devs > ...) is a design principle of the HTML spec. w3.org/TR/html-design-princi… while this is explicitly for HTML/web features, how should web devs feel about or treat it when designing their web apps?

Few of my #Eclipse2024 photos, taken near Forest, OH. It was very cool (and literally it got cool also). And worth taking time to ponder these celestial bodies all aligning for a moment for us to experience.

Bit behind but just listened to episode 715 of @syntaxfm and was kinda sad to hear the take on Manifest v3, specifically as it relates to ad blocking. It absolutely is not as capable, and any privacy gains you might get are likely offset by privacy losses from unblocked ads.

It absolutely is very important to be careful what extentions or add-ons are installed. It's hard not to argue that v3 and the crippled declarativeNetRequest (and removal of webRequest) was designed to make ad blockers less capable. V3 has some good aspects, but this part stinks.

PS. I really enjoy @syntaxfm and have listened since episode 1. Also I don't expect he remembers me, but met @wesbos at the jQueryTO conference way back in like 2011 or 2012?

Accessibility is foundational. If a UI design requires ignoring accessibility, we should probably change the design. And good news: Accessible design tends to be *less* work, not more. Why? Because accessible designs use the web platform as intended.

It was time! Today is official-end-of-life of Internet Explorer. RIP!
As a web developer this is one of the happiest announcements in a while: Google Search ended support for IE11 in its main product 🎉 (you can still search but will get a fallback experience). I'm mostly posting this so you can send it to your boss 😛. We did the Math. It is time.

It's quite amazing how modern web devs can figure out how to piece together complex JavaScript modules with build tools and linters and various scripts running everywhere. But they still can't figure out how to properly use HTML buttons so websites can be more accessible. #a11y

Books expand the imagination, build empathy for others and are great tools for learning. Banning books is wrong (even ones I don't like or disagree with). Absolutely #ReadBannedBooks.
With all these book bans, @levarburton's life just got a lot more difficult
I love #JavaScript but there is no denying it has it's WTF moments. Some are compiled here: bit.ly/3ADFsnO One of my favs: // NaN is not a NaN NaN === NaN; // -> false Which is also faster than isNaN() (although a micro-optimization & pretty unreadable in code).
