Favorite part was a little past the midpoint when Andre La Gerche comes on to talk about Derek Clayton's heart and experience with afib
Touches on topics I hadn't heard elsewhere
Multiple ablations, when to treat, the nature of AFib, physiology of the heart

I had a nice chat with Glenn about a topic I believe to be very important, given the likely beneficial effects of exercise on issues facing people with cancer, incl. fatigue, metabolic disorders and cachexia. Also a topic that needs a lot more research and target identification👩🔬
Now online
There is evidence exercise can:
-reduce the likelihood of getting cancer
-improve the prognosis during cancer treatment
-improve effectiveness of chemotherapy
-reduce metastasis
-reduce the likely of getting cancer again
Remarkable!!
Thanks @LykkeSylow

The first 20-minutes of this podcast are interesting for aging endurance athletes
Listen specifically to the discussion concerning the difference between strength and hypertrophy training
Implications for planning our strength year
1️⃣maintain lean mass across years
Vs
2️⃣maintain strength inside the competitive season
More episodes on this topic available too
Interesting to listen to the discussion about BFR, which I've never tried.
---
Also enjoyed #33 on lipid metabolism and energy pathways. Favorite bit there was the discussion about competing pathways, rather than "switching off" of pathways.
Looking forward to chatting in 2 days with Associate Professor Jeremy Loenneke from the University of Mississippi
Topic: Blood flow restriction and exercise
Rationale, when and how used, effectiveness, mechanisms etc
Please let me know any questions

The power of exercise to benefit our health and wellbeing is remarkable🔥
Emerging evidence indicates multifaceted benefits of exercise for patients with cancer💪🍀
Anything you want discussed?👩🔬
Looking forward to chatting in 2 days with Associate Professor Lykke Sylow from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. She is definitely a rising star (only 10 years post PhD).
Topic: Battling Cancer's Side Effects: The Power of Exercise
Please post any questions. @LykkeSylow

@GlennMcConell1 I went back to some of your previous podcasts. True experts and no one is selling anything! Just a bunch of curious, extremely capable scientists who love exercise and and want to know how things work. Incredible! Thanks for the opportunity.

Thankyou for these interviews, I am going back replaying, as a layperson I am building up my knowledge, understanding. Keen today to listen to Dr Chris Fry. I am at the age were joints (knee) have caused an issue. Thus for me "how to age well being active".

I hope this is a joke, but if not, you would do well to watch my @inside_exercise podcast episode on how glucose “spikes” are normal physiology. youtu.be/Y6d40ORa0SI?si=AIc-…

That’s made me think that it would be a good idea to get someone on to talk about the effects of shoes on running injuries in terms of cause, prevention and recovery etc. Do they make a difference? Does anyone know a biomechanist or podiatrist researcher in the area?

We had a really enjoyable and interesting chat
-ACL injuries appear to cause muscle atrophy independent of reduced physical activity
-Low skeletal muscle capillarization limits muscle adaptation to resistance exercise training in older adults

Have you listened to:
Inside Exercise by Dr. Glenn McConnell, episode #30: “Inactivity-the imperceived muscle stressor,” Dr Paul Greenhaff?
You should!
Here’s the key points but you need the nuance of the conversation for full understanding.
