question for the meta ads goat @stevehunsaker1 - how important is not being "learning limited" for a local service biz with a relatively small budget?
It is crazy to me that a company that purposefully does not let their clients own their website or ads accounts in order to make the relationship as sticky as possible and avoid transparency for clients somehow consistently is a "leading partner" for so many groups- pay to play?
also, have your employees use google maps for directions into work
LOCAL SEO TIP YOU CAN HAVE YOUR FRIENDS DO🚨
Google tracks how many people search your business name and click on your listing.
More branded searches + clicks = Google thinks you're popular = higher Map Pack ranking.
So what do the top local businesses do?
They get friends, family, employees to search their business name from different devices and locations and click the listing.
Request directions. Click "call." Browse the photos.
Every interaction is a signal to Google that real people want your business.
10 people doing this daily for 30 days moves the needle more than most think.....

branding DOES matter early on, but I think the conversation is more about how MUCH to invest in it early. Be intentional from the jump with deisgn, positioning, etc. absolutely, but early on for people to ever see your brand you need to be running calls. overindex early on leads
There’s a popular take going around that branding doesn’t matter for home service businesses.
Or that good branding actually hurts sales because people associate it with high prices.
Like most things in business, that’s not really how it works.
Branding by itself won’t sell jobs. It won’t build roofs or clean houses. It won’t magically make leads appear.
But business isn’t one thing in isolation. It’s a bunch of systems working together. Branding is just one tool in that toolkit.
Saying “you can build a business without it” doesn’t change that.
As for the pricing argument, I think that comes down to who you want as a customer.
Personally, I have zero interest in racing to the bottom. I’d rather attract people who aren’t purely price-sensitive. People who value quality, professionalism, and experience. People with money to spend who care about more than the lowest quote.
There’s also another reason branding matters that doesn’t get talked about much.
Most people start businesses out of aspiration. They want to build something they’re proud of. Something their crew is proud to wear. Something customers feel good about hiring.
That feeling matters. The impression you leave matters.
Can you build a profitable business without great branding? Absolutely.
But it’s a lot more fun building something that has a little magic to it and that’s why many people are willing to invest in good branding.
Was at my MIL's house today- she's getting her AC replaced.
She is not someone who "pays for best service etc". She is absolutely lowest bid wins. Which usually means chuck in a truck.
I asked the tech for the name of his company- wanted to leave a review- would not tell me??

🚨 Home Services Marketing Mistakes That Cost You Thousands
I asked @HeySamPreston (CEO of @servicescalers) the #1 mistake he sees from home service businesses.
He didn’t hesitate:
“They spread themselves too thin. $2k in LSA. $2k in Google Ads. Why not $4k into the one that works?”
He also shared a painful (but common) fail:
💥SEO agency changes URLs
💥 Ads stop working
💥 6 weeks to recover
If your marketing teams aren’t talking, you’re burning money.
