Scallops are surprising because they swim at all. And they have eyes. People often don't believe me at all until I show them. Deeply weird critters.
Imagine going to the expense of providing a 5090 as a replacement, but being stingy about the warranty length after your product had to be returned 4 times on warranty. How will this look if it fails after 6 weeks?
A ZOTAC customer sent his RTX 4090 in for warranty service four times after dealing with crashes, freezing, visual artifacts and PCIe errors.
After the fourth RMA, ZOTAC decided to replace the RTX 4090 with a brand-new RTX 5090 instead completely free of charge.
The replacement apparently came with a 30-day warranty, based on the remaining warranty period of the original card.
This is nonsense, but some hardware makers will push this narrative because they really want customers to keep buying even during a temporary period when they can only offer terrible deals.
The $500 console is dead. Even after the RAM crisis ends, the era of affordable gaming hardware is gone for good. bit.ly/3ROAvpc
I've been saying for a while to people gloating about the supposedly imminent replacement of white-collar workers, saying the trades are safe, that this is how it's going to go in the trades: one qualified guy supervising multiple robots, inspecting and intervening as needed.
More signs of the AI bubble popping.
PNY lists GeForce RTX 5070 OC Triple Fan card for just $579, the lowest it has gone in the last 90 days. wccftech.com/get-this-rtx-50…
Please stop trying to make steering wheels into something other than a wheel. Flight yokes are cool, but they're just not as good for ordinary, everyday driving in a car.

There are no dragons anymore because we slew them all for their treasure hoards. Now how are we supposed to satisfy our material desires and urge to glory? Eat grass seeds and fight each other aimlessly forever? Truly, this is the end of the world...
In a way, AI coding is the logical end of cloning. Intellectual property for computer programs developed in an odd way, falling under copyright, but with blatant cloning being permitted, even though the clone's design is clearly derivative, as long as code wasn't directly copied.
Naturally, this favored the rise of large cloning shops like Microsoft, where the main work was not creative, but simply the circumvention of copyright, with additions and maneuvering that made circumvention of their own copyright more difficult.

Medieval Dental work was very sophisticated. They understood gold is biocompatible and didn't cause reactions with gums; if anything it had good antibiotic effects. Likewise they had very precise manual cavity cleaning tools, tooth extraction and tooth filling (wax & cement).

A missing lower lip from a sword wound with cowbone teeth held by gold wire would be distinctual and badass!

This is actually what worked for STAR WARS (1977), and it fell apart as soon as they demystified everything.

Reminder: id Software shipped 6 games in 1991. Makes me think we're doing it wrong...
I'm mostly opposed to the "cloud gaming" thing, but I think there are interesting things you can do if the game's designed to be cloud-only, kind of like when the games in the arcade could do stuff that home consoles couldn't come close to.
I can't believe Valve would make someone throw a beloved cube down an incinerator. This is like nothing they've ever done before.
Dbrand - Companion Cube will not be sold and refunds will be issued - Valve told Dbrand to take it down
"They stated that the Companion Cube is Valve intellectual property, for which dbrand does not have a license."
