Honestly, my take is that the scummy matchmaker got caught sending a client a bad match and wants to make out that he fumbled the play. Crown Alley is a bar. I bet it was "meet for a drink and see where it goes" not "meet to have pretzels for dinner and that's it for the night".

First date should *always* be a quickly-escapable vibe check, but I think in that case you would especially not want to spend lavishly on the first date, since there's a high risk of getting a gold-digger. Posting this makes the matchmaker seem really awful, too.

Everything is O(1) for constant n. If you want to keep making a RAM bigger in the real physical world, eventually the wires have to be longer and signals take longer to travel them. That's why we end up with a hierarchy of big+slow and small+fast RAMs.

Random memory access is properly an O(log(n)) operation, not an O(1) operation. I think eventually we'll move toward instruction sets with explicit cache management rather than trying to guess what operations will trigger a cache miss.

Far from "invisible" there's going to be some deep enshittification of its text outputs to encode this marker.

The combination of "invisible watermarks" and "part of the text" is nonsense. Someone told them they have to, so they're going to pretend that they did.

They only had to fly five miles. The short range requirement favored battery-electric.

Dark Sun had some interesting features, and the Brom art was great, but really poorly thought-out and almost unusable as an RPG setting. Now it all makes sense that it comes from this incredibly shallow corporate marketing reasoning.

That's so hilariously dumb, as if desert people hang around in bikinis rather than robes, and metal-poor people go unarmored instead of making armor from organic materials.

Starting a war to prevent nuclear weapon proliferation *after* they have hundreds of kg of 60% enriched uranium is shutting the barn door after the horse has bolted.

Letting customers walk around among the goods and gather them up for purchase doesn't have a long history. It's a system that's only suitable with a very orderly, trustworthy population, and the only thing keeping it around is it being practically illegal to discuss the changes.

He did a lot of them, but the only one that came close to Potion Seller's popularity was In A Perfect World.

People always come to see his video of potions, but no one sees his dry hands and gives lotions. And he's like, "Hmm! Are you even looking?" youtube.com/watch?v=MlGezNnx…

Named, of course, after the souls currency of Dark Souls and the like-like enemies from Legend of Zelda.

It's the friend/enemy distinction. Nearly all academics are hard enough left to support leftist terrorism, and naturally, they react to any ideological position they disagree with as much worse than leftist terrorism.

That's the funniest part to me, the people who think there's going to be a singularity, but also that mere ownership is going to be respected by whoever or whatever controls the new power. youtube.com/watch?v=8IfTwS7d…
