also fromthe foundation series: the use of nuclear tech's lock-in factor to conquer the territories (that use them like an API) serves as a great metaphor for the proprietary LLM-powered agentic stacks that limit choice

Frontier AI models are built from thousands of small decisions: data sourcing, filtering, mixtures, curricula, scaling experiments, optimizer choices, kernels, evals, failed runs, and protocols for deciding what gets scaled.
This is process knowledge.

i have 3 codex profiles in my config
i guess i am relatively high on the profile count

> I want the human pantheon rather than machine god
ironic how the company that named itself "anthropic" is more ai-agency pilled while the company that's named "openai" is more human-agency pilled

while claude's product ecosystem's UX is great
one thing that claude seems to have really cracked is making people believe that it's great and that they are smart for identifying so
some of my interactions with claude reminded me of dark patterns like doomscrolling

People ask me how I choose what model to route queries to.
It's simple.

sweet!! been using a similar loop using cron job in hermes for a few weeks :)
great to see this being a polished first class feature!

yeah codex is realy bad at this. i've resorted to using a hermes worker with a custom supervisor profile (also using gpt-5.4) with a cron job that scans all of my current active codex sessions (in zellij) every 60m and nudges them forward by sending a message to initiate new turn when a nudge make sense.
although a bit hacky in terms of tooling, this is working surprisingly well so far for overnight runs and 24*7 execution. will write a post on this soon.
over the course of implementation, i've come to realize that my setup resembled openai's symphony but with more flexibility reagrding state transitions and agent choices etc.
before coming up with this, i tried to give codex explicit instructions to implement a loop where it periodically monitors the output of a long running job and address the outcomes accordingly. but it consistently failed; it tried to use custom bash scripts first and couldn't get the loop working even when i tried to make it use subagents explicitly.
i am often tempted to use claude code's `/loop` which seems like the perfect UX for this usecase but i have come to appreciate codex's reasoning and problem solving more for complex tasks like you mentioned in the other reply.
rooting for @thsottiaux @OpenAIDevs @ChatGPTapp to improve codex on these product details to give the harness/UX the models deserve :)

Tonight I'm hosting the 6th CodexSF meetup at @WorkOS (also streaming on X and YouTube)
Stop by for some great talks, pizza and drinks! Link in first reply.
Demos by:
@vineet_reddy1: an autonomous genetic research system where Codex helps scientists generate research papers
@rjp0x: a no-code orchestration flow: an orchestrator that plans and tests, dispatching subagents that work like a full-stack team
@Nikiag65: using Codex's newly launched hooks for hands-off control
@NathanBurg: parallel Codex agents across isolated git worktrees, with an adversarial plan reviewer and a shared skills directory, for drift-free autonomous runs
@curious_queue: Codex hooks, a zellij setup, and a cron job in Hermes that contextually nudges Codex to keep executing
New best local model for y'all
16GB-64GB rejoice, the chosen one has arrived.
