Y’all I’m gonna be honest, they need to have an on-call emergency physician or trauma physician to Zoom in to ESPN to explain what’s going on since I don’t think it’s being explained well what happened…

Fluid management pearl (case from last night): if a patient has already received 7 liters of crystalloids and 1 liter of albumin, I doubt that the 9th liter of fluids will miraculously fix his hemodynamics...

A Saturday rant, of sorts... As a pediatrician who, like all pediatricians, spent 11 years (minimum) in higher education and training, it is absolutely astonishing to me that ppl w no medical training whatsoever think they have equivalent knowledge because they have internet 1/

1/ Have you ever wondered why patients in shock are refractory to vasopressor support if also severely acidotic? I always assumed it was b/c cellular stuff just doesn't work well at low pH. It turns out the answer is slightly more complicated... #medtwitter #tweetorial

I can draw 50cc of blood out of you without batting an eye. If I watch my own blood fill a vacutainer I will pass right out in the chair. Anyone else have this aversion to seeing their own personal erythrocytes?

You guys. I'm caring for a widowed old fella today and he says his lady friend from up the street has been visiting. He thinks she likes him but he says "I'm not sure I can collect the muster if you know what I mean". Said he hasn't had a first date in 58 years...

If you are a med student considering where you next wish to train, I'd suggest a tough, inner-city, low-income hospital. You will see much more, and do much more, than if you choose some swank, country-club like place. #Meded

Most trauma, ER, ICU -critical care nurses live with a degree of PTSD and do not speak of it. We keep rolling with the shifts. After being brutally attacked, performing CPR, delivering TPA so someone has a quality of life after stroke and we darn sure don’t forget the screams
