Master Builders SA

🏗 "Turning South Africa into a Construction Site" isn't just a slogan, it's a national commitment. Today at the Master Builders Annual Congress in Sun City, Minister @DeanMacpherson of the @DepartmentPWI, delivered a powerful keynote address that laid bare both the challenges and the bold solutions shaping #SouthAfrica's #BuiltEnvironment. He spoke of a country reimagining its public assets, over 88,000 buildings and 5 million hectares of land, and how these will no longer lie idle or be hijacked. From releasing properties to support victims of gender-based violence, to unlocking unused buildings for economic development, the shift is clear: public infrastructure must work for public good. Minister Macpherson also highlighted real impact: ✔ Strategic public-private partnerships to revitalise properties like Jozi’s High Court ✔ Ongoing crackdowns on construction mafias, with over 260 arrests ✔ Revitalisation of small harbours and major tourism nodes ✔ 55,000 new jobs created in construction in the past year This isn’t business as usual. This is bold, innovative and people-centred infrastructure delivery, and the momentum is real.
