if agents can write code and build new capabilities on their own, what should we actually build for them?
ephemeral tasks can be handled by writing and running code locally. but for agents to write their own reusable capabilities and reliably trigger them again and again, deployment, hosting, and credentials management need to be easy!
i'll be speaking more about this idea at Vercel Ship this thursday (10/15), come check it out : )

Notion runs one of the largest CRDT deployments in production, processing millions of operations every minute!
We wrote about the data structures we adopted from CRDT research to make our text editor more collaborative, and how we built on those concepts to fit our block-based data model.

Using Windows? Workers are now supported via npm and winget.
Install or upgrade via npm install/update or winget install/upgrade.

Do you see yourself, or the smartest person you know, in this photo alongside @geoffreylitt @ivanhzhao @goldmanem and @_clem? Because we're hiring a developer advocate and it's an incredible role.
You'd be building in public alongside @NotionDevs, and inspiring people around the 🌍 to create the Notion of the future.
And we have an unlimited supply of Uncrustables.

This is so good. Notion's developer platform is built on Vercel Sandbox. You can seamlessly extend Notion natively, or use their MCP to bring Notion to your work.
This landing page is also Next-level!

Anyone and I mean literally anyone can do this. Yesterday in the back of a cab I made two Notion workers:
1. Wires up the data from our rooftop solar panels and
2. Talks to the energy monitor in our breaker box.
Voila: this chart. Feels like the future.
🥁 Sync any data source. Whatever context you need can now live in Notion.
Our new database sync (powered by Workers) runs on our infrastructure and lets you sync any data source with an API into a Notion database.
Sync customer data from Salesforce to build detailed reports. Or connect Strava and Spotify data to curate the perfect running playlist.

I literally build a Strava sync during the livestream, so cool

Thanks! This helped me solve an issue I was having rolling out the new @NotionAPI update for my Chrome extension -- I was hitting a wall with the directory tree not finding the databases connected to a page id before but was able to debug it with @claudeai thanks to this 🔥

Loved chatting with you, but why did you have to choose a cover photo that looks like TMZ coverage of @simonlast and I getting divorced? 💀
🆕 The Full Story of Notion AI
latent.space/p/notion
We're so excited to chat with @simonlast and @sarahmsachs about Notion's "Token Town" - the crack team of AI Engineers and Model Behavior Engineers entrusted with building AI for Silicon Valley's most beloved knowledge work collaboration platform - and their latest launch of Custom Agents!
We talked:
• The full history of the 5 major rebuilds of Notion AI — and the key lessons from each
• How to eval agent *usefulness* not just correctness
• MCP vs CLI pros and cons
• What "work" looks like when agents are coworkers — why they build for the "top of the class" rather than dumb down AI for everyone
• Simon's take on the ideal "software factory" of the future
and so much more!

01:23:45 Outro
Before, you had two ways to use @claudeai with Notion:
1. Custom Agents (Notion runs the harness)
2. Claude + MCP (Claude runs the harness)
Now there’s a third with Claude Managed Agents. Notion is the collaboration layer. You can keep working in Notion while Anthropic runs the agent behind the scenes.

@NotionHQ lets teams delegate work to Claude directly inside their workspace. Dozens of tasks run in parallel, and whole teams collaborate on the outputs. Available now in private alpha: youtube.com/watch?v=45hPRdfD…

Notion Workers

was able to sync 5 years of budget data into @NotionHQ from @ynab last night in under 15 minutes.
now, I can:
- make any charts or views of this data I want
- use it as context for AI search over my life
- trigger automations + custom agents from it

As an engineering manager, Codex from @OpenAI has been key for keeping me in the code while still supporting my team.
We paired up to share a few snippets on how I used it to ship Voice Input in Notion AI. 📺👇

New @NotionDevs features hot off the press (JS SDK v5.14.0):
- API to manage and query database views, including linked views. Great for automations & setting up new workspaces!
- Status properties supported in API and @NotionHQ MCP
