I’m ooo this week - so this is a personal perspective, don’t speak for the company here yada yada (ignore the badge)
claude, codex, grok etc - they’ll all ship documents, collaboration, permissions.
that’s actually great - for both them and…for notion
for the labs, the products being closer to the harness they own / model should improve the quality and capability. some customers will do it and be better for it. good for the customer and the lab.
for notion? this is what I told myself when i first heard about docs etc coming down the pike
powers - product is loved, brand is strong, customers want more from it. that kind of bond is rather hard to break!
freedom - context wants to be free - customers will desire agnosticism
marginal advantages - every week there’s a new model, and you want to harness the intelligence no matter who’s renting it
!zero sum - love the labs. they’ve changed humanity. but markets are so big. notion owns its own piece of the pie
large markets - we’re at the start of the inference inference end game. it’s going to be a very long one, something something exponentials
team - it’s great. water’s warm - come through
i’m biased but that’s the story I tell myself
i've been working with large enterprises on improving search in their very connector heavy workspace
this is a baby step which has really improved answer quality

@chintanparikh94 onboarded me at @Opendoor when I joined his team. Younger and sharper than me, and understood problems like no one else. Left during the mass exodus like me and many others when things were dysfunctional. Glad to see he's earned the right to lead engineering there
