You’ve heard a lot about Umar Khalid through the media. But amid the media witch-hunt against him, there has been very little space for him to speak for himself, especially since he’s spent the last six years in jail. So I want to tell you a little about my friend Umar, in his own words, as shared with his family and friends.

hey folks! here's what the wind tunnel road looks like now. it will be beautified and will become unrecognisable soon. but the sad news is it will be covered in garbage again. this is what we call a blackspot. so i want your help with the real problem: to keep it clean. i need 5 volunteers to send video/pictures after 7pm (after 10pm if possible) and before 7:30am over the next 7 days. we're trying to find a framework that works for spots like these so DM me. if it works here, it can scale to the rest of the city. i know someone who has cleaned and maintained 150 spots like this in less than 70 days. so it can be done. it is possible. GBA and BSWML clean it and it comes back. not because the ward AGM didn't do their job or the marshal didn't patrol. it goes deeper than that. it's a systemic problem. over the last 3 days, i have spoken to a bunch of stakeholders from every level. and i see a lot of hope. real hope. the limited time i get from running anomaly, i want to use it to give hope than just garner likes and laurels from posts about one time fixes. many other much powerful folks than me have been trying to give us all hope lately, i want to do it too. it’s like a game now. a win here is this stretch is still clean a month from now. a los is it's piled with garbage again.

I discovered the meaning of the word “incumbency” may be when I was still in college. But I think I have just begun to understand it. Some things cannot be just ‘learnt’ I suppose, they must be witnessed.

Our office cat has been missing since yesterday (New Thippasandra) She routinely used to go out to explore, and come back promptly. She is super friendly, so you need not have to worry about keeping her till we come and get her. Any help is appreciated <3

The Election Commission of India is under fire like never before. The SIR has struck 13 crore names off draft rolls, putting the EC at the centre of intense public debate over its role in deciding who gets to vote — and who doesn’t. HOWEVER, what nobody knew: through that same period, some of the sharpest questions were being asked from inside. Out today, after months of work. Our #ExpressInvestigation 🧵 (1/10)

So why should you care about this unprecedented rupture in the Election Commission? BECAUSE being eligible to be enrolled as a voter is no longer enough. In one state, 97 people proved they belonged, the officer agreed, and the software, controlled from Delhi, never let him record it. They're still off the roll. BECAUSE the reason you trust the voter list is that nobody controls it: thousands of officers do, one constituency each. Centralise the software, and that stops being true. And BECAUSE the check built to catch this, three Commissioners deciding together, was tried. But TWO of the THREE say they were kept in the dark on key processes rolled out to revise the rolls. I've attempted to map everything in oncology in a public website and open source repo for all. The site is trying to get all cancers, products, technologies, bottlenecks, people, startup opportunities with 1000+ ideas for upgrading the field. If you have a loved one with cancer and you are technical or can engineer, go take a look, file improvement requests or bugs or help with the open repo and make this the best open and free info resource for individuals, researchers and educational use. This should save people time, aid AI oncology projects and generate positive action. If you are not technical just complain in this thread about broken or annoying or things you want and I'll fix them live. Some of the interesting pages: Treatments: onco.cc/drugs A gallery of the molecules being used onco.cc/molecules/ And targets: onco.cc/targets/ The technologies in oncology: onco.cc/technologies/ 1100 ideas for helping oncology: onco.cc/ideas/ Bottlenecks on oncology: onco.cc/bottlenecks/ Open questions (LETS GO RESEARCH PEOPLE) onco.cc/open-questions/ Startup requests (LETS GO STARTUP PEOPLE) onco.cc/startup-requests/ Mechanics of cancer: onco.cc/mechanics Battlefronts: onco.cc/fronts/ Isotope supply: onco.cc/isotopes Key papers: onco.cc/key-papers Pipeline funnels: onco.cc/pipeline Cancer by type: onco.cc/cancers/ Institutional rankings: onco.cc/institutions/ The startups: onco.cc/startups/ Heros and heroines : onco.cc/heroes/ Key medical people: onco.cc/people/ Here is the project roadmap: onco.cc/roadmap/ Models and data sets: onco.cc/models/ There are other views as well, take a browse. Try making a PR if you have an upgrade to this on the repo here: github.com/judegomila/OnCo If you are biologically/medically minded and something is wrong, file a bug as well or say on the thread and we will get it fixed live. If this is a useful project star the repo and help get it calibrated. I've tried to add some other languages but I cannot speak them so tell me if that doesnt work well. I believe we will crack oncology and having total information dominance is key to the problem. Let the feedback flow!

Cat owners have a 30 percent lower risk of dying from a heart attack. A study published in the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Neurology analysed data from 4,435 adults followed over 20 years in the Second National Health and Nutrition Examination Study and found that people who had owned a cat at any point had significantly lower cardiovascular mortality. The study was led by Adnan Qureshi at the University of Minnesota. He found that cat owners had a 30 percent lower risk of death from myocardial infarction and a lower risk of death from all cardiovascular diseases combined, after adjusting for age, sex, race, blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, BMI, and income. The effect held across every subgroup tested. The mechanism is likely stress reduction. Cats, unlike dogs, do not need to be walked, which removes the exercise explanation. What they do provide is companionship, tactile contact, and a calming presence that lowers the baseline stress level in the home. Studies on pet interaction have shown that stroking a cat lowers cortisol and blood pressure within minutes, and those small daily reductions compound over years. The study could not determine whether it was the cat that produced the benefit or whether people who choose to own cats have personality traits that independently protect against heart disease. But the size of the effect, 30 percent, and the length of follow-up, 20 years, made the finding hard to dismiss as coincidence. A cat does not exercise with you, does not cook for you, and does not remind you to take your medication. It sits on your chest and purrs, and the 20-year data says that is enough. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2251…
