It's such a painful time to be sharing anything. Honestly.
If you have the space for it, in our latest paper, we delve into the invisibilized daily lives of Lebanon’s Syrian Dom community, with a particular focus on the gender-specific adversities encountered by its women.
Historically nomadic, the Dom have largely ‘permanently’ settled in the MENA countries where they are based, though the Syrian conflict has displaced many to Lebanon, where they live in precarious conditions alongside other refugees.
By focusing on vulnerabilities, forced labor, sexualization, protection, as well as intimate-partner and familial dynamics, we aim to offer insights into how systemic inequalities intersect with identity formation in a less-explored displacement context in Lebanon.

Today, our Regional Director, Hala Al-Karib (@HalaYAlKarib), moderated the launch of Human Rights Watch’s new report on Sudan, titled “Khartoum Is Not Safe for Women! Sexual Violence Against Women and Girls in Sudan’s Capital.”
Hala emphasized that “not addressing sexual violence in Sudan only deepens the suffering of victims and perpetuates a normalized environment for such abuses.”
The report reflects the same patterns of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) highlighted in our recent research.
