"With good food you can build a big army and a good army and slaughter thousands of people. With healthy food you can improve eyesight. For what end? I'm asking. What is the end goal? What is it that society really wants? I don't think they know. They want things to remain as they are if they are doing well in that society. If they are not doing well, they want to see change. But if you ask them what kind of change do they want, "Well, I want a steady job for people." "You mean no more automation? What do you mean by steady jobs for people? That the coachmen always sit in the back of the coach and use horses? That the automobile coming in will travel faster and farther and do away with the horseshoes and all that sort of thing?" "Yes, that's what I mean." The future is always changing and always rendering certain professions obsolete. We no longer have many people who shoe horses except in the park where you ride horses. If you try to keep things as they are, then I would say you have no concern for the future." - Jacque Fresco TVP Teamspeak Q&A Seminar 2012-07-08 - Nothing Things @ 12:22 tinyurl.com/091742 The quote is included in the book, Do You Speak Future? "Some people say we are what we eat. Well, Hitler was a vegetarian, but he was a jackass in many ways. I'm not too interested in people eating good healthy food. I am more interested in what goes into their heads than their guts." - Jacque Fresco tinyurl.com/091742

Pop the Trunk Episode 12: No Rewind    Pop the Trunk went live for the first time ever, and there was no safety net. What you heard was what it was. The crew wasted no time getting into it, from a big boxing weekend to the NBA playoffs, bad bets, and stories from the streets of South Philly that you genuinely had to be there for.   From there it turned into exactly what Pop the Trunk does best: wrestling history, hip hop history, and the kind of arguments that don't have a clean ending. The main event was a deep discussion on underappreciated MCs — who got slept on, who got jammed by the machine, and who was simply too nice for the world to handle. The live crowd had opinions too, and they weren't wrong. Two hours of unfiltered conversation with nowhere to hide. The first live edition of Pop the Trunk. No rewind.

34 years ago today, Gang Starr release their 3rd LP, Daily Operation, on Chrysalis Records. lyrically, musically, and visually, Daily Operation is one of the more culturally rich hip-hop records ever. Preem’s production is a tribute to multiple decades of black music, and Guru is in top form. “Take it Personal” stands alone as possibly one of the five songs that define the signature sound of the group with an impeccable catalog, 34 years later it still stands as one of the best examples of top-tier lyricism over flawless production. like the rest of their work, Daily Operation raised the bar artistically upon its release in the spring of 1992, inspiring heightened cultural awareness and somehow making it all look easy, like just another day in the office for hip-hop’s greatest MC/DJ combo. an absolute perfect record and my personal favorite from  their (brilliant) discography. listen to it today, and bask in its glory.
