Save this skill and let your AI run it overnight to optimize all the videos on your website, in your product, or in your mobile app. All locally, completely free.
Reduce video file sizes by up to 80–90% in some cases without any noticeable loss in visual quality.
A few years ago, I wrote an article explaining exactly how I optimize videos for the web using FFmpeg. Now anyone can optimize videos the same way I do, using just this single skill. No technical knowledge required.
How to install
npx skills add pixel-point/skills --skill compress-video
How to use
/compress-video <file-path>
Simply optimize one or more video files.
/compress-video audit <folder-path> / <url>
Audit existing videos in your project, find the most suitable resolution for each one, and generate a report.
/compress-video compare quality of <file-path>
Get a table comparing different compression levels and estimated file sizes, so you can decide which quality-to-size ratio works best for you.
/compress-video scan and optimize this project
Run a full audit and autonomously optimize all videos in your project.
By the way, the Steam Link bug I reported, was finally completely fixed. Now image clarity is perfect!

The amount of damage that AI has done to online discourse cannot be understated.
Well-photoshopped thumbnail. "Did you use AI?"
Video is scripted. "AI-generated text"
Speak clearly and coherently. "Sounds like AI"
That last one doesn't apply to me because I speak too fast and garble my words most of the time, but the point remains that any degree of effort gets met with accusations of AI.

Microsoft Overhauls DirectX Raytracing, Boosting Frame-Rates and Cutting VRAM
In a test on a mid-tier RX 9070 graphics card, performance in one scene jumped from 1.2fps (!) to 79fps (a 66x increase) when using clustered geometry, as the time needed to build acceleration structures dropped from 788ms to 3.11ms (a 254x speed-up). RT compute times also dropped significantly, from 72.6ms to 9.27ms (8x faster). In terms of VRAM, memory used to store acceleration structures shrunk from 7.3GB to 774MB, nearly an order of magnitude less. It goes without saying that real-world testing with more complex scenes and much more going on in the background will see smaller gains, but it could still provide a game-changing improvement.
Microsoft notes that games can use the clustered geometry and PTLAS features separately or together as needed, and no new hardware acceleration is required either, so the features should work on existing graphics cards. "Even in normal times this would be a wonderful thing"

BREAKING:
Scientists confirm that an ADHD partner cannot actually relax on the couch while you are cleaning the kitchen—they just sit there frozen in "Guilt Paralysis," scrolling their phone in misery while their brain refuses to let them stand up.
Researchers baffled.
Here is why your partner looks "lazy" on the sofa while secretly panicking inside—and how to break the freeze: 1/6

NVIDIA has quietly added GPU prioritization controls to its NVIDIA App, giving users more control over how GPU resources are shared between foreground and background applications.
> Default: 80% priority for foreground apps, 20% for background tasks.
> Prioritize Foreground: 90/10 split.
> Custom: Users can adjust the split up to 95/5.
Some RTX 5090 owners have spotted it

What if Minecraft could look THIS good without sacrificing its vanilla art style?
I've spent the last 3 months developing ImmersiveVFX, a visual overhaul that's actually a MOD, not a shader pack!
And the best part? Up to 2x the FPS compared to Complementary Reimagined in my tests.

The idea was aimed at people who mix and match outfits. Taking a jacket from here, pants from there
That small ring you add might have a 4k texture file which contains the rest of the outfit
The tool identifies this, extracts only the pixels you need, and rebinds everything
