When Lord Shiva, Pashupatinath, the protector of all living beings, sees five young elephants chained and deprived of freedom, his heart fills with sorrow. He looks into Baby Elephants eyes and feels the pain of a life without the wild, without family, without freedom. With tears in his eyes, he breaks the chains and leads the young elephant back towards his herd. True devotion is compassion. No prayer is complete while a living being suffers. #CompassionIsDevotion #SaveIndianElephants #FreeTheFive #NoElephantsInTemples #StopElephantCaptivity

A new name: NAMASHIVAYA. But what changes for this young elephant? A sacred name cannot replace freedom, space or companionship. The mahout holds an ankush (bull hook) as the elephant stands amid a crowd for a photo-op, controlled by the threat of pain. Rule 6(4) of the TN Captive Elephants Rules, 2011 requires a notice asking pilgrims not to feed temple elephants. When those in power ignore this on camera, devotees and children follow. Reunite Hiralal, Durga, Bijuli, Shiva and Rupsing with their families. Stop further transfers. True devotion is compassion, not captivity! @CMOTamilnadu @TVKVijayHQ - your subordinates are misleading you, please form a SIT & take action on all those who are involved in trafficking of elephants go Tamil Nadu from Assam. Mahout use Knife & drag Hiralal by the Ear to control him. #SaveTheFive #VerifyTheFive #FreeTheFive #NoElephantsInTemples #StopElephantCaptivity

Hon @CMOTamilnadu - Please ORDER a proper Investigation on these transfers of Baby Elephants. Your subordinates are misleading you by saying that these transfers are LEGAL - we beg to differ & have enough PROOF to expose the MAFIA behind the TRAFFICKING of Baby Elephants. #SaveIndianElephants #NoElephantsInTemples #EndWildlifeTrafficking

WORLD ANIMAL DAY They are young. They have families. They deserve freedom. Instead, Durga, Shiva, Hiralal, Rupsingh and Bijuli are thousands of kilometres from Assam, confined in temple captivity in chains, away from the life they should have known. On World Animal Day, let’s remember: an elephant is not a temple possession. SAVE THE FIVE. LET THEM LIVE FREE. #WorldAnimalDay #SaveTheFive #FreeTheFive #VerifyTheFive #NoElephantsInTemples #StopElephantCaptivity

LOOK AT LITTLE BIJULI. The tiniest of the five baby elephants brought from Assam to Tamil Nadu temples. All three legs tied. Holes through both the ears. Weak. Frail. Famished. And somewhere out there is her mother, Jaya. Jaya was reportedly translocated to another State and is now said to be untraceable. What does little Bijuli understand about temples, religion or devotion? She only knows that she has been taken away from her mother and brought thousands of kilometres away—into a life of chains. Kanchi Mutt already has three elephants. They had earlier sent them to a sanctuary saying they could not care for them properly, only to later get them back through court. If this video of Bijuli does not move those responsible to act, what will? Where is our kindness? Where is our compassion? And what does religion mean if we cannot show mercy to a helpless baby? @CMOTamilnadu @CTR_Nirmalkumar @RameshOffcl @BussyAnand @imrajmohan Please save Bijuli. Please find Jaya. Please reunite this baby with her mother. Save Shiva, Hiralal, Rupsingh, Durga & Bijuli. Send them back to their Mothers. They are just Babies. They don’t deserve such capital punishment of enslavement. #SaveBijuli #SaveTheFive #ReuniteThemWithTheirMothers #StopElephantTransfers #WhyTheChains
