The rhetoric of Gavin Newsom and London Breed is dangerous and promoting the stripping away of the civil rights of Americans without a home. There are real solutions to homelessness, like Housing and Intensive Support.
Does anyone even comprehend the seriousness of Gavin Newsom and London Breed pushing for more criminalization as a "compassionate" response to the growing homeless crisis? youtu.be/sPmjy_9e-Io?si=2AOg… This is just the start. More politicians will follow their lead. As homelessness grows, and IT WILL GROW, the public will become more frustrated, increasing the support for a punitive response.

The continuing economic fallout from the pandemic, along with an aging society, tells us that older adults’ experience of homelessness and their unique needs must be included within a national strategy to prevent and end homelessness.

Isn't it strange that @NLIHC showed in black and white with #OutofReach that we are living through an extreme housing affordability crisis and yet Mayors across the US (66 of them) have decided to divert attention by attempting to make tents disappear. #HomesNotSweeps

We lost another medically compromised person experiencing homelessness. 😔
She couldn’t get adequate hospital treatment or a place to medically recover.

This does absolutely NOTHING to address the needs of those experiencing homelessness. It simply violates their rights and human dignity.
