At 14, I was close to being expelled. Most of my teachers had given up on me. My mum never did. She bought me this book. Years later, I showed that photo to the man who wrote it, on his own island 🏝️ Screw It, Let’s Do It by Richard Branson was the first book I ever read cover to cover. He struggled at school with dyslexia too, and still went on to build an empire. If he could, maybe I could. So I spent £30,000 to stay on Necker Island, with no guarantee he’d even speak to me. He did. And when I showed him that photo of me at 14, he was genuinely touched and asked for a picture to capture the moment. He said well done on the business. But what moved him most was hearing about the hospital ward we built in Uganda. His lesson to me: the goal was never the money. It’s the impact. To every kid struggling at school right now, your report card doesn’t write your ending. Mum, this one’s for you ❤️ 👇 Who was the role model who changed your life? #RichardBranson #NeckerIsland #FullCircle

Giant enclosed membrane structures now cover large excavation zones on construction sites across China! They block over 95% of dust and cut construction noise by more than half, shielding nearby communities! This is how China's air-supported membrane technology is reshaping construction sites across the country!

There is also a lesson for African governments and political movements seeking external alliances to resolve domestic disagreements. International partnerships may be useful, but powerful countries pursue their own interests links.monitor.co.ug/NSP7VE #MonitorUpdates

This weekend I got two pieces of news that hit HARD. Two friends were KILLED in two separate incidents, both were KNOCKED by Motorcycles. As I reflected on their cruel death I was reminded of 1,776 other people KILLED while crossing or standing by roadside. That’s 32% of all victims of road crashes. As you step out for a walk today, please pay extra attention; Look left, right, then left before crossing….even on a one way road and Zebra crossings. We have many reckless drivers/riders on our roads. #SafeRoadsSaveLives

Ethiopia's new cabinet is small, skilled and heavy on PhDs and sector experts. 👏 Africa needs more of this: leadership picked for competence and results, not patronage. A government is measured by the prosperity it delivers, not the size of its cabinet. Congratulations, Ethiopia! 🇪🇹

Like I have always said, you realise a country is moving forward when they start calibrating time into everything they are doing. Seeing these real time bus transport boards being introduced in Rwanda shows you how determined this country is to beat odds. These guys understood the real assignment of building a stronger future is not in speeches but actions.

China–Africa Summit. Russia–Africa Summit. US–Africa Leaders Summit. EU–Africa Summit. Japan–Africa Summit. India–Africa Forum Summit. Turkey–Africa Partnership Summit. South Korea–Africa Summit. France–Africa Summit. UK–Africa Investment Summit. Italy–Africa Summit. Africa–Arab Summit. Everybody wants a summit with Africa. But when does Africa get to host summits where the world comes to negotiate on Africa’s terms? How long will we remain a continent of strategic interests, investment opportunities and diplomatic courtship without translating all this international attention into prosperity for ordinary Africans?
African leaders complain about being summoned by a single country but they keep showing up. At the Russia-Africa summit, Putin literally handed out ice cream, criticized former colonizers, and called out "active attempts by Western countries" to keep the continent in debt

Interesting: this is revealing that Gen Saleh talks about a power sharing sort of democracy. Today, the winner takes it all. What issue are they trying to solve though? It would give this context.
“In the next few months, we shall have a combined outlook of the Uganda we want to see. We are studying a consociational democracy agreement,” Gen. Salim Saleh says while addressing heads of parliamentary committees in Kapeeka.

Afande Saleh is cooking Uganda-after-Tibs. For those behind the paywall: @cobbo3 breaks down Saleh’s Kapeeka statement. Consociational (it's a difficult word!) systems operate in Northern Ireland, Belgium, Lebanon, Bosnia, and Switzerland. Saleh's co-author for the transition deal is Prof. Ogenga Otunnu, Amb. Olara Otunnu's brother. Given the history between the two families, Uganda is truly fascinating.

Ugandan politicians must stop treating citizens as fools. Besigye had his own presidential ambitions, and his refusal to rally behind Bobi Wine raises serious questions about whether the struggle was ever bigger than personal ambition. What exactly are they fighting for, and which ideals remain unfulfilled? Uganda needs mature, high-level political dialogue with Museveni, not endless confrontation and appeals to foreign influence. As for KB, enough is enough. He deserves his freedom and dignity, not continued imprisonment at his age. The struggle for Uganda must be bigger than individual egos and political ambitions.

Commitment & accountability: 1 year ago, I went with male champion @SpireJim & @UNFPAUganda to Alere SS & refugee settlement. Heard young girls struggling w/ school due to issue of menstrual health. Decided to act, collected money through art. Then came back w/sanitary pads👏
We went back to Alere S.S. in a refugee settlement in Adjumani to distribute sanitary pads to girls (and hygiene packs to boys)… As the male champion and +1 to the Danish Ambassador @DKAmbUganda some time back I drew women rights related cartoons that were auctioned to raise money for reusable pads. These were topped up by @AFRIpads and @UNFPAUganda, together with other items that were given out at this school today. The involvement of boys at this school in engaging harmful practices, creating menstruation awareness and fighting stigma among themselves is quite inspirational. So much to share about the experience, but first the joy of engaging with these young souls.

#50LuxuryUgandanLodges | 14/50 — APOKA SAFARI LODGE Kidepo gives you room to look further. Apoka Safari Lodge sits around a rocky outcrop overlooking the Narus Valley in Kidepo Valley National Park. Its appeal begins outside: the sweep of the landscape, the thatched buildings and a swimming pool carved from natural rock. Then come the intimate details: a private veranda, a generous guest room and an outdoor bath with a view. The lodge lists ten canvas-walled chalets, giving this remote Ugandan stay a character of its own. Game drives and guided walks bring the wider park into the journey. Back at the lodge, the temptation is to slow down and watch the light move across the plains. Wildlife is part of the destination, but no particular sighting is guaranteed. For a Christmas trip, plan the journey as carefully as the stay. Ask about current road or flight options, transfers, park activities and the accommodation category that suits your group. Would you begin with a game drive or a quiet hour beside the rock-hewn pool? Plan with EDX Travel: +256 751 395 326 / +256 775 716 808 | info@edx-travel.com | edx-travel.com Official lodge: wildplacesafrica.com/apoka-s… Photos: Apoka Safari Lodge / Wildplaces Africa, official gallery. Safari photographs show the wider Kidepo experience; sightings vary. #XmasInUganda #ExploreUganda

Copied By Gen. David Sejusa: SEEDS OF AFRICAN RELIGIOUS WARS BEING SOWN BEFORE OUR OWN EYES: So, it all started as a causal challenge directed towards pastors of the Pentecostal and Charismatic churches by Frank Gashumba. The big story for me is not this challenge itself and the REWARD MONEY OF SHS 200M. But, rather, the extent it found TRACTION WITHIN THE POPULACE and VITRIOLIC(violent verbal splutter) REACTION from the Pastors! It was like a lit-match on petrol ⛽️! So is it about what Gashumba said, or there is more than meets the eye? Is this bitterness perhaps driven by strong undercurrents of RESENTMENT & FRUSTRATION towards the NEW CHURCH? THE BACKGROUND: These Pentecostal/Charismatic Churches& their PASTORS, are different from the traditional CHURCHES & Preachers of the old CHURCH MISSIONARY SOCIETIES-type( Anglican&Catholic). Myself, I come from a deeply Religious family- with both my parents having been PREACHERS& my father, a Canon of the Church of Uganda. So I know the difference. The old CHURCHES operated like NON-PROFIT FINANCIAL MODEL ORGANISATIONS(Collegia). These had Elaborate Administrative HIERARCHY& STRUCTURE, clear bylaws and rather than seeking PROFITS, they operated the early churches depended on Members voluntary contributions which were put in common fund under the CHURCH LEADERSHIP. These funds were distributed to promote SOCIAL SERVICES- BUILD SCHOOLS, HOSPITALS, LOOK AFTER WIDOWS, ORPHANS, etc. Basically, CHARITABLE ORGANISATIONS than purely FINANCIAL CORPORATIONS. PAUL talks a lot about these in the ACTS OF APOSTLES. SO, WHAT OF THESE NEW CHURCHES? These new Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches and their preachers(PASTORS) are different: These are the modern MARKET-DRIVEN ENTERPRISES- which can easily pass for any other PROFIT CORPORATE STRUCTURE. So they angage in MARKETPLACE GIMMICKS, LIKE TODAY' MIRACLES, TO MAKE MONEY..... These new Churches with their NEW GOSPEL- the so-called PROSPERITY GOSPEL has SHIFTED these Churches from the SPIRITUAL SPACES to COMMERCIAL MARKETPLACES. Becoming part of the TRANSACTIONAL EXTRACTION STATE. So, they are now one& the same with the CORRUPT AFRICAN EXTRACTIVE COLONIAL STATE& its SYSTEMS. They are family businesses, with STATE SPONSORSHIP, AND SOME, WITH JOINT VENTURES WITH STATE SECURITY ORGANISATIONS! This TRANSFORMATION, therefore, means; these Pentecostal Churches have had to forge a TRANSACTIONAL RELATIONSHIP with the PREDATORY POLITICAL ELITES of the Colonial State in order to get POLITICAL FAVOURS: MONETARY, DONATIONS, LANDS, and POLITICAL PROTECTION. THE NEW REALITY: Like is usually said; WHEN THE SACRED ALIGNS TOO CLOSELY WITH THE SWORD, then, RELIGION CEASES TO BE USEFUL TO THE OPPRESSED. And history shows that when "there was fusion of ALTAR AND THE THRONE, it ultimately resulted in ANTI-CLERIC REVOLUTIONS- resulting in BEHEADING POPES& BISHOPS. This is what caused many RELIGIOUS WARS in EUROPE& elsewhere, like we now see in Nigeria, the SAHEL, etc. And it WILL SURELY COME HERE IF Government doesn't stop these robberies of the POOR. WARNING: First, we need to understand that MIRACLES are older than these Western Churches of just 100 years old! Traditional African Societies record many miracles before COLONIZATION. Also even with Christian religion, it important to know that SEEING MIRACLES did not always equal RELIGION, CHURCH, even FAITH..Eg, Abraham in UR, knew no God of Israel. PAUL/SAUL was a non-,believer..Pharaoh RAMSES of Egypt was totally defying God when he saw miracles, etc. So MIRACLES ARE NOT TIED TO THE CLERGY, or even the CHURCH; and to do so just shows the confusion of the COLONIAL ELITES! So, The new WEALTH-CREATION CHURCHES must know, WHEN they partake of earthly things the TEMPORAL POWER PROVIDES-Money, power, NON-ACCOUNTABILY& IMPUNITY; WHEN THERE IS FUSION OF OF THE BIBLE AND THE GUN, then the "SHEEP" start perceiving them as being part of the OPPRESSIVE, EXTRACTIVE COLONIAL STATE and its predatory elites.

This is powerfully stated —- “We are trying to make sure you people don’t inherit our generational quarrels — that’s what we are trying to achieve” If they can do this — they would have bequeathed a better Uganda to the next generation.
GEN. SALIM SALEH BREAKS SILENCE ON DR. KIIZA BESIGYE. In the Video, the Kapeeka General says he has been in touch with Dr. Besigye and it is an opportunity for him to reconnect with an old Comrade. He hopes the negotiations will yield consensus on both ends with in 3 to 6 Months. The Chief Peacemaker of Uganda 🇺🇬 🙏
